@@ROAMitRALPH I am using my GoPro with Media Mod for everything. Iphone for Thumbnail pictures. But in germany is wintertime now and it is cloudy every day... this is where the GoPro is super dark already. Nearly impossible to get a nice picture... so I might upgrade to Pocket 3 or Iphone 15 Pro Max and just record with it... as I am upgrading my phone at some point anyway. Oh and the GoPro has NO zoom... it has a tiny digital zoom that you have to activate before recording... but it's not really good and not easy to go in that menu haha so no spontanious zoom.

@@uthixo The GoPro is still nice to have, especially with the rain and snow, or using it for action-y stuff. Pocket won't be able to handle that kind of stuff. But other than that, yeah, the Pocket is amazing, especially at night. It's hard to beat the image from a camera on a gimbal. From your videos that I've seen, I think you would love using the Pocket 3. It has a 2x zoom in 4k and 3x in 1080p that you can use while recording.

@@ROAMitRALPH Did you have the Pocket 2 before? Is the Pocket 3 also more robust? Pocket 2 seemed like it will break when I just put it in my cupholder for example. Imagine I am driving, I spontaniously wanna record something and then I wanna lay it down... pocket 2 seemed so fragile... the go pro I could even throw it on the car floor if I want haha it wouldn't have a problem. Iphone has zoom as well... but I think it looks unprofessional recording with an iphone. I could also use my DJI Osmo 3 Gimbal with the Iphone... mhhm How long is the battery life??? Thats a big one... a reason why I sent the Pocket 2 back! I read that you can load the Pocket 3 while recording with a powerbank... and it takes 18min for 80% ? not ideal... with my gopro I just exchange the battery easy... I have 4 batteries.. so I can record a whole day, no problem. That would be good to know, battery life of the pocket 3! like real battery life while using it constantly.

@@uthixo I had the Pocket 1 and 2. The Pocket 3 feels much more durable and premium in the hand, BUT there have been a few reports of the screen breaking and not holding in place. Still doesn’t feel as durable as an action camera though. The battery life, I haven’t run into any issues with, but I don’t normally film for a long time. It does suck that it still doesn’t have swappable batteries. I think the only option is to have that battery handle. Since it drains the battery handle first, you can pop it off, recharge it, and reconnect it to the Pocket. FYI, I was out today and filmed for about 1.5 hours, Pocket 3 was on the whole time with periodic recording, and my battery life is at 77%. Not sure if that info helps you or not.

Thanks for more doggie shots!!! I went back to watch your ZV1 review just to see the stand alone footage quality. The Pocket 3 is really impressive. Definitely my favorite footage in all of your comparison videos!

I figured it was easier to watch the doggo rather than my face lol. I love the Pocket, I usually shoot in LOG with it though so I can control the colors more. I’m thinking of doing one more Pocket comparison vs my A7SIII and in LOG. Overkill, but I think it’d be interesting to compare.

@@ROAMitRALPH Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with your face! But you can't compete with a cutie like Sheba :) I'm here for more Pocket 3 content! I don't shoot LOG but may play around with it now that it is on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Also the "Tracking tests" ... hilarious! ;p

In the day, ZV1ii has better overall footage. Pocket 3 better night footage. Better for vlogging. Better stabilization

Yeah, I actually prefer the image out of the ZV1ii. It’s only 8bit, but it just looks so much more natural and not over sharpened like the Pocket. But yeah, if you’re moving or filming at night, the winner would have to go to the Pocket.

thanks for having just a very simple and easy comparison. Sony ZV1M2 no EIS used at all will give a wider FOV if asked and that was something I would love to see along with catylist browser as well. thanks for sharing

Yeah, I tried to keep it simple because I know when I’m looking for videos like this, I kind of want it straight to the point. But I’m actually interested to see how the ZV1ii compares using catalyst browse too. I’ll probably work on that comparison once I get back from my trip

Without a doubt the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 has better image quality and I think for video the 75mm zoom is not really that necessary. Also in terms of price, the DJI is a better product, for less money. I am very happy that someone is finally coming to compete in this sector with Sony, since the users are the ones who benefit. Greetings from Mexico.

Yeah, the fact that the Pocket 3 is only 60% the cost of the ZV1ii, I feel makes the Pocket 3 the much better choice. I love the innovations that DJI has been coming out with. @@MonkeyClub No, I saw it on my 4k monitor, which I have set to 10 bits. Possibly Sony fanboys will resist accepting reality. But like everything, it will be a transition. The same thing happened when people commented on the superiority of Sony products compared to Canon, it was almost an offense. 10 years later, Canon fans have moved to the Sony ecosystem. It's always like this, we are people who love brands. But the reality is that for brands, we are only money, so we must celebrate competition, because thanks to that we will obtain better products and, above all, better prices. Greetings.

@@ReviewsDeHardware Take the original files and compare, Pocet 3 has lower quality, plus it has problems with sharpness on the sides, I don't care about fanboys, why are you talking such nonsense. The person recorded the material incorrectly, the test is poor but you can see that the quality is poorer in many elements, plus the rx100 records in 5k and converts it to 4k, so how can the quality be worse?

Thanks! I was actually worried that the cameras would blend into the dark cars in the background, but luckily I was able to dodge and burn enough to separate the cameras from the background.

They should add "zoom in" lenses like they added the fish eye lens to compensate the lack of zoom

That’s funny you say that because I was talking to my buddy who actually preferred the focal length of the Pocket 1 and thought the 2 (&3) are too wide. Would it even be possible to make a lens like that? Like how they do the wide angle lens?

If I have to say it, THE major flaw of the Pocket 3 is that the focal lense is WAY to narrow for a vlogging cam, 20 mm is too much, I would have gone with a 12, 15 as a compromise. Try to vlog all day with you arm stretched out and you'll understand. With a 12mm equivalent you would not need a stick to vlog. I see in the future a more Pro version with a small optical zoom mounted in and maybe interchangable lenses to accomodate different tastes in focal lense

@@pedgarage oh I prefer it wide, it was my buddy who thought it was too wide. In my other video, I was saying how the wide angle lens is a must for me. I normally vlog with a 16-35/2.8 on my A7SIII on a MantisPod, so I know the struggle it takes with a heavy setup lol. I think 20mm is the minimum when pointing the camera at yourself and anything wider is a bonus.

anymore wide you lose the bokeh and cinematic feel. 20mm is the sweet mm to satisfy both vlog and film style videos. pocket cameras are not meant to be gopro wide theyre supposed to be cinematic.

Apart from the zoom range, P3 is a far better choice. Even though ZV1 II has 18mm, it looks way narrower due to the EIS, besides that, its stabilization really sucks. DJI has really done an amazing job! Thanks for the video 👏👏

It’s funny because when I was using the ZV1, I thought the stabilization was great (for digital stabilization). But then when I got the Pocket 3, yeah, completely demolished the ZV1 lol

If you just want to shoot without worrying about candid shots, the stabilisation and colour HDR elements of the pocket3 are too perfect.

I agree, that’s why I ran these tests with both cameras on auto. I figure if someone knows what they’re doing with settings and movements, they could easily get away with either camera.

Btw, just realized your username, do you think a timelapse comparison would have been interesting to look at? I thought about doing that test too, but I forgot to add it.

I bought the ZV 1 M1 two years ago and used the camera for vlogging but I haven’t edited videos yet. And I want to get the pocket 3 but im not sure if its worth it. I usually wanna use it for travel and events. I dont really vlog a lot but its also have to do with little confidence with a big camera. I feel the pocket 3 could help me with that confidence boost since its small.

Thank you Ralph! Hands down Pocket 3 takes the cake! Really inching closer now in pulling the trigger on the Pocket 3 soon haha. Awesome video as always :)

It’s definitely the way to go. I’m heading to Japan soon and if I could only bring 1 camera, it would easily be the Pocket (my iPhone doesn’t count lol). Btw, might have a special guest with me in Japan that you might recognize 🥔🤫

The ZV1 is still a nice camera. But if I could only suggest one to you, definitely the Pocket 3. What you don’t see in this video is the fact that I had to swap the batteries 3 times in the ZV1 while the Pocket 3 was still going strong. But more importantly in the sun, the screen on the ZV1 was almost impossible to see which isn’t an issue with the Pocket. I’m still going to keep my ZV1, because sometimes I like that raw look in my videos, but it’s just hard to suggest over the Pocket 3.

Excellent sample footage. The part that makes the least sense to me is the DOF of the Pocket compared to the Sony. The F1.8 Sony has little background blur when your face is close to the lens while the F2 Pocket has noticeable blur. Were you at F1.8 on the Sony? If not, I wonder if the Sony actually has a 1" sensor since the blur looks too good on the Pocket to be fake.

I noticed that too. Yeah, the Sony was at 1.8, but didn’t blur out the background as much as the Pocket did. It was at 18mm because that’s the only focal length it’s 1.8, but I don’t think that makes a difference.

DJI Osmo Pocket 3 looks amazing but i think they missed out on the USB webcam mode at only 1080P 30 ( and looks compressed), or at least give us hdmi out...

Thanks for the review. Do you think you can do a video about the still image photography of the pocket 3 vs an iPhone and the ZV1 Mark II by chance? Espcially in low light. I know it won't win but Im curious to see how far off it will be and no other reviewer talks about it. I just need the Pocket 3 to beat the front facing camera and the wide angle camera of the iPhone in low light.

I can definitely do that, I’m always looking for new ideas for videos. Let me warn you though, I’m not a great photographer (I’m honestly not a great videographer either lol). So basically the same kind of side by side photo comparison in different situations. Would it be helpful if I add a full frame camera to that mix? Or would that be too much?

Im just hoping the Pocket 3 can beat the Selfie Camera and the wide angle camera of an iPhone in low light. It will be interesting to see how far off the Pocket 3 is to the full frame.

DJi seems to be shooting in log, 10 bit, hdr or dolby vision, whatever it is; especially in low light, the colours seem to be richer than zv. What could you say about that? I really wonder your insight. Because I’ll either wait for the zv e10 mark ii and some lenses or go with a dji pocket 3 and mini pro 4. They will most probably cost nearly the same or close. Dji mini pro 4 and pocket 3 might be a great combo, too. By the way; whose colours are more accurate, dji or sony?

Everything was shot in the standard picture profile. I tried to make the comparison simple. I think it does tend to over sharpen and over saturate especially over the ZV1. The colors on the Sony were way more accurate. Honestly, I actually prefer the look of the ZV1, even though it’s only 8bit, I think it looked more natural straight out of camera. The Pocket 3 and Mini 4 would make a really nice compact set to have. I’m using the Mini 3 Pro and love traveling with it. But if you’re getting into cameras, you’re going to love that ZVE10. I started out with the A6000, and now I’m mainly shooting on the A7SIII. I love being able to swap lenses for the situations that I’m in. I do have another one of these comparison videos coming up with the Pocket 3 vs the A7SIII. I even put in a LOG comparison.

@@ROAMitRALPH Thank you for your detailed answer. How is the zve10’s or zv1 m II’s photography performance, does the lack of optical stabilization in the kit lens habe any negative effect? Video is ok, but photography performance is important for me, too.

One of my biggeet gripes with DJI is that none of their cams have an HDMI out, which confuses me...

Yes! I’d even gladly take a micro HDMI, at least give us that option. Especially since the market it being a webcam as one of their big features, but it’s locked at 1080/30p

Oh I’m one of those ZV1ii owners crying lol. I knew the Pocket was going to be nice, but I didn’t expect it to basically make the ZV1 in short useless. And the fact that the Pocket 3 is 2/3rds the price of the ZV1ii 😭. I was basically trying to convince myself in the beginning that there’s still a use for the ZV1ii and it wasn’t a waste 😅

I tried shooting a samba dancer with my Osmo pocket, but i think i messed up and didn't select the subject to track, therefor, the Pocket 3 focused on the background more of the video, but also there was a challenging lighting situation where i was in a dark shaded underpass and it was very bright out. Still getting familiar with the pocket 3, but i think i got it for next time. Will it replace my r5C and gimbal for professional videos, no, but i can use it for alot of other things once i get the hang of it.

I’ve had a few issues with the Pocket 3 losing tracking, but usually in complex environments. It’s definitely a learning curve mastering this thing. How do you like that R5C? I’m a Sony shooter, but I’m super envious of the cameras and lenses that Canon has been putting out lately.

@@ROAMitRALPH TBH, my R5C is collecting dust as i use my R5 more. I'm not a "videographer" but i am a professional photographer. But it is my backup cameras as its basically the same camera as the r5 but with the cinema features. That being said, i uploaded a 4K video of a samba dancer. go ahead and watch when you get a second. i think it was decent.

Hi - could you do some product slides with the product tracked using the zoom to keep the product dead centre - I can't find anyone doing this, so .... (1) I can't figure if the zoom is useable (2) if a close in movement with a track will be smooth. The reason I ask is I do food photo/video.

I did notice that, I filmed and edited on a 24p timeline which might have made it look jumpy. That’s my only guess, it probably would have been much smoother if I filmed in at least 30p

Definitely, I have a trip to Japan coming up and this camera is going to be my main vlogging camera. I usually use a full frame A7SIII for vlogging and I think this camera changes everything. For travel vloggers, I think the Pocket 3 and an action (or 360) camera would be the perfect combo.

@@anandolodh2458 Pocket will probably do 90% of the work and the action camera for those “action” moments; beach, waterpark, theme park rides, mount to vehicles/motorbike, snowboarding, chest camera, or even just in bad weather.

I thought the ZVE-1 over all was better😮

I LOLed a lot. There is a lightweight Hohem iSteady Multi 150USD gimbal that even supports sony controls (zoom, record button). There is no reason to compare the stabilisation of Pocket 3 with any bare camera.

I really like my ZV1ii too, but it’s hard to defend it against the Pocket 3 😅

Pocket 3 lacks sharpness on the sides, the image is weaker than Sony's. Sony has terrible stabilization, it has always been bad in the RX100. RX100 quality is the best.

As a long time Sony shooter, Sony’s stabilization is terrible. What’s crazy about the ZV1ii is they took out ibis and left it to only active stabilization 🤦🏻‍♂️. You’re right though on still shots I actually prefer the look out of the Sony (without any editing)
