Of course, if something's wrong with the drone (which is like 1% of the time) you'll crash. But if you have VLOS or are not flying above water you'll find your drone 99% of the time. It's those who "fly rashly" that tend to lose drones. I'm with him/her on this one.

Briana Oliver , I have a Phantom P330, that flew perfectly for 200+ flights. Then one day, no fault of mine, it took off on its own. Found it, sent for repairs, flew 100+ more flights, then crashed again. Hopefully these (esp Mini2) have better software, connectivity and it won't happen again. I do all my preflight checks diligently. Of course there's all kinds of people that fly, drive, etc recklessly.

Thanks for including the recovery and tracking the drone. Not many videos cover recovery, which is something we'll all have to do at some point. Lesson learned, always fly into the wind and come back with the wind.

This is really helpful. I am terrified of losing my drone especially as I live in a city with lots of flat roofs. So far, I have not flown more than 2,000 metres. It is also really cold - typically around minus 10 centigrade (although it can get to -40C so I am not complaining) so flight time is reduced to around 20 minutes

I dont know why, but if they dont have enough battery, they still forced it over the water on the way back, instead of flying to the nearest LAND so they can go over there to retrieve it instead. people loses their drones because it loses altitude after battery had being drained.

Why didn't you just click the lil X and close the forced landing bro!? I mean you just click the lil close X circle thing to the left of the Forced Landing messages? Thus way you can fly with the battery past 0%, but in sure a million people told you that after watching the video hey, lol.. Sweet I'm really really happy and glad that you didn't lose your wonderful, beloved Mini 2! I really really love my Mavic Mini and my Mini 2, I fly both! Usually I have one flight with my Mavic Mini and get an impression, then I take out the Mini 2 as I have the Fly More Combo for it and fly 3 times for about 10 minutes! I like to always have my batteries at between 60 and 72 percent, storage voltage! This way they will get very very slow degeneration and will be healthy for a long long time. Of course you must fly them down to 20% but having batteries at 65% say will preserve them for sure.. 🇧🇬😁🛸🌃

I watch all my telemetry all the time, and when I see my battery is at 30% I make sure to be less than 200m away from me at all times after that.. I've never actually had a forced landing, so I can't be sure hey. You may just be correct about all this. I hope you don't have anymore such landings bro... 🇧🇬😁🛸 PS: you're definitely way way WAY more brave than me bro, I'd never have the nuts to fly so far! I admire you for the fact you just fly out and be all calm always and chilled... I found out that the Mini 2 actually has a little gas in the tank even though it may hit the 0% mark. I was able to fly 732m(2400ft) on 0%. The drone was trying to land but I was pushing up on the stick which kept my altitude and I was pushing forward on the right stick to keep it moving forward. I was over the middle of a river and was trying to get to the other side so that I could retrieve it. It just kept flying. The forward speed dropped to about 5.4m/s(12mph) but it kept flying so I kept bringing it home hoping to get as close to me as possible. Well it made it back to to me and I landed it in my hand and immediately shut it down so not to damage battery. Turns out the battery is fine and all is well, but there was a definite pucker factor during all of this. It was only my second flight of the drone. Learned a valuable lesson that day. I think DJI might have built in some padding on the battery info. They must know that some of us are gong to ignore that warning light on the dash that it's time for gas. At any rate I WOULD NOT recommend that anyone fly at 0% like I did. It was terrifying.

Wind didn't change so I put it in S mode and wanted to get back faster. At 15% it decided to go into auto-land mode! Thought I had till 10%! It forced itself down but got to the beach - but 1500 m away. And since I was in a remote area without a cell signal... had one when I started.... and I forgot to cache maps.... find my drone did not work. Thankfully I memorized the land it was going down to and found it... but was pretty nervous someone would find it before me... Not sure why it forced itself down at 15%, and I think it uses alot more power in S mode than N or C modes...

I've explored the emergency landing site, so I know the spot I'm going to land at in case the battery runs out. Well, lots of questions :)

I reckon 4km is about the limit on a calm day to get back again. You sound calm on the voice over but I'm guessing it was a scary time for you.. Its a great what not to do video, being more aware and checking wind direction and shear, but keeping calm is key. Maybe you could of lowered the altitude even more and kept pushing up forward on the sticks to get you that little bit closer. Rather than running a quarter marathon to hope its not been taken 😱. Helps with long distance less interference from WiFi and Bluetooth and you don’t want calls and texts when flying

I tend to keep an eye on fishing. If they’re allowed to go fishing, I’ll fly. According to the Fishing Trust (and Boris) there’s no fishing at the moment.

Greetings from Worcestershire dude 👍 did you see they send a separate battery firmware update yesterday? It came up for one of my batteries anyway when inserted. You know if you’re hovering in position and you yaw it all the way around 360, does your quad ever twitch a bit when it stops yaw’ing? I’ve noticed mine does (not normal wind stutter) so hoping when I go out to try it again it will have stopped. Doesn’t affect camera, you can just see the drone spasming almost.

@@DMProductions Strange, I’m going to test mine again too when I get chance in a bit and see if by chance the spasm was anything to do with needing the update. It only requested the update for one battery as I tried the other 2 and nothing....so guessing it must do it all in one, OR the others were fine and that one wasn’t 🤷🏻

Just tried it again and no such luck! It sort of does a bigger circle than it should also just yawing in the same spot. Can’t see how it could be IMU as it was completely flat! However take off point was not entirely.
