    Thanks for posting the tutorial. I just got my Mavic last week and did not understand how to set my way points. This was extremely helpful. Hopefully DJI will put out an update for pre-planning. However, DJI probably does not want people running waypoints without flying them first for the possibilty somebody will program a waypoint that has an obstacle in their route. Even though the Mavic has avoidance sensors, there is that chance it would fail while somebody wasn't paying attention. So they most likely don't want the liability of having that feature.

    Two questions. 1.) Around 1:50 into the video you make the gps take up most of the screen instead of the camera view, how did you do that? 2.) I am attempting to use way points to create a downward spiral motion. I believe the gps waypoint screen tells you the exact location of each way point. As opposed to flying the drone around is there a way just to input the waypoints into the gps screen?

    Hi Michael. You're the man!! Thank you for all of the tutorials. I was wondering- during your waypoint mission, on each new point, the camera makes a sharp turn to face the new direction. Is there any way to smooth these turning points out so its like a giant loop, as opposed to linear turns?

    Hey! About the speed. Even though you set it to 22.4 mph (which btw equals to 36 kph) the drone flies appx 33 mph, seems like this is not a bug, but a maximum achieved speed in waypoints mode according to the SKD (15 m/s). The trick is, how you did it? Did you push the stick towards or used a patched app? Thanks!

Great app and it's funny you commented on the audio portion but that is the longest part of the editing process, it's so frustrating because it records the video of different speeds so to match audio you litteraly have to cut the video in several sections and either speed the video up or slow it down..... it's maddening!

    Thank you for the video and time and effort into making it. However, I still do not understand why DJI does not make pre-planning and pre-loading missions possible as does the Litchi app. Why dos DJI require you to fly the route to record waypoints when Litchi does not? "Autonomous" waypoint missions should be able to be recorded pre--flight for DJI products.

  • @joeglennaz

    @joeglennaz

    7 жыл бұрын

    Originally they did, but they had several idiots make missions without considering obstacles and they had crashes into houses and other things. So from then on DJI requires us to fly the mission first. I agree with you it's a pain, but a few always ruin it for the masses. Hence Litchi!

    Kim Frederiksen Yes, the app did crash one time and I was in complete panic mode as my home point was under some trees so if RTH would have kicked in it would have bad. Luckily it was only hovering 5' off the ground so I just grabbed it. Trying to restart the app with one hand and hang onto a angry Mavic with the other was a bit unnerving to say the least. I've only had that one issue and it could have been in conjunction with me using the screen recording app mobizen

    Having to fly a route to use the waypoint feature is a big disadvantage. You use twice the battery power to do just what again? DJI needs to modify the feature to pre-plan flights and upload them; like Litchi.

    engineerus0 the max height depend by DJI hardware/software/firmware limit. DJI told me for the Mavic Pro is (or could be, it depend where you go to fly) 500 meters, as for others. With Litchi app you can program the flight on the Google Map and write also the altitudes from the take off point, for each Waypoint, also negative altitudes.

    you can't set waypoints by tapping them on the map without flying the route first? Only the litchi app? With the litchi app will the waypoints feature work to fly a flightpath out of line of sight (where RC signal may be lost) yet continue to fly it and so long as the flight path takes you back to home it will take you back home or if it goes out of line of sight and loses RC signal will it try to RTH directly an dif teh latter how do you ensure it avoids obstacles returning to home directly? Thank you

    justinspirational Correct, you have to fly the mission setting waypoints as you go with the DJI Go app. The Litchi app you can theoretically set a mission as far out as your battery will take it even out of range of controller......not recommended but you could.

    If Waypoint #1 is directly above your launch point, later you can refly that mission from a cold-hearted, letting it self-run to Waypoint #1, fly the mission, then auto-return, to use minimum battery, and have identicle flights each time avoiding pilot input.

    Son Ero, yes, you can abort the WP mission on the screen, set the first Low Battery level warning and Litchi calculates, live, the safe moment to come back to the Home Point. You can also abort this auto feature, during the returning, obviously at your own risk. The Litchi advise (voice and on the monitor), as: the aircraft ask Go Home could appear also with a 60% battery if you are far, because is dynamical, it depends how far and how hight is the drone. Also the long press of the RTH button on the remote control remain usable (for Inspire 1 Pro, but do not know with Mavic Pro, I still waiting to receive).

    I seriously recommend you switch to Litchi or Autopilot for waypoint missions. DJI's implementation is garbage compared to either. Trust me - buy Litchi, try it out and you'll be amazed. Make sure to try designing a mission in their mission hub - instance sync to your mobile device.

    To record the altitude you want with the GoApp you simply fly to that altitude when you are recording the way points. Still is stupid that you have to fly the waypoints as this wastes battery power. It is a shame you have to go to a 3rd party app to do it the right way.
