DJI Mavic Mini: How to create ActiveTrack-like sport shots!

DJI Mavic Mini: amzn.to/2M7rzq4 (link helps support channel, thanks!!!)
For real, I'm going to show you how exactly to create incredible autonomous drone tracking shots using the DJI Mavic Mini drone, despite the fact that it technically doesn't have ActiveTrack in it, but rather a dumbed down QuickShot set. Still, with a few tips you'll nail some amazing shots while solo, especially for sports type shots like cycling, running, and more.
I dive into which of the DJI QuickShot modes work well to fake ActiveTrack, and which ones don't. From Dronie to Helix, Rocket to Circle, I give the pros and cons of each, and recommendations on distances and speeds to make incredible b-roll shots.

7:24 13% battery above water, you're giving me sweaty palms dude
Limitations lead to creativity

Completely agree. Just bought a Mini and was brainstorming a hack. Funny thing, this video just secured my assumptions. Great video.

I agree 100%
If Mavic Mini adds this feature, it will singlehandedly be the best consumer grade drone for general use.

The $25 LItchi app now allows the Mavic Mini to have a Follow Me mode.

I have been watching how-to's since the purchase of my MM, this is by far the best and easiest to follow I have seen. I can't wait to get out of lock down and try it out. 👍👍
Thanx,,, you're such a life saver. My Mavic is almost here. I need to learn All that I can right now... thanx. Keep up the Genius Work.
This is helpful. I always thought when you try to do circle shot the mini would follow. I'm glad you did the test, so we don't have to.
Thanks for making this video! I just started flying the Mavic mini for my travel blog on KZread, and I’ve been playing with all of the quick shots!
This video was super helpful to me. I am a trail runner. I run solo mostly. I went with the Mavic Mini because of size and weight and was just going to be happy w the Dronie and Circle mode and miss out on the live track. Now very nice to know I can pull of a "moving Dronie" and get an active track look. Thanks so much

Really helpful video. I’m also a solo rider/filler so this is so helpful! I’m struggling with the budget for the Mavic so doing this with the mini so really helpful. Love it!
Death-deifying! Had me in grips every corner on your mountain bike! All is grand nerd. All is grand. Thanks for your video
I just bought one of these today and I can hardly wait for it to be delivered. Gonna have so much fun with this little guy!
Very helpful and swift education! Nice work and thanks for the tips. I've always looked to you for bike tech for years now, back in the blog days - glad to see your channel is huge.

Awesome man. Dang, I didn’t use this while I was in Indonesia a couple weeks ago. Thought quick shot was something else. I just bought my drone a few days before my trip and didn’t have time to explore it. Thanks for doing this, mate.
Awesome video, thank you! You have not discovered anything new, there is plenty of other videos that tell to use quick shots to fake active tracking. But yours is the first one that i see that actually gives useful tips an examples of how this can be actually used to obtain short but great video sequences, that can be used inside a montage of a longer video greatly enhancing it. Sure the method has its limitations compared to a real active tracking, but your video can help a lot to understand those limitations and to obtain great results inside the limits that the quick shot modes have.
Stoked I came upon your video! My first drone, the mavic mini, just came in the post today AND I've gotta quadlock on my road bike so I'm stoked to try out your suggestions.
How about just setting a home location in the distance, a low home altitude, and just riding in front of it on the way home 🤔😂
Great video, thanks for sharing such useful tips. And I love that you shot the footage by Muiderslot Castle!
I'm actually eyeing for this drone. Thanks for the review. ☺
Great video on getting to know the tools being used in order to get desired effects!
Best video ever on KZread much simple...!!!! Thank you

Amazing trick!! Thanks mate!!
Thanks for the tips. Are sure worth my while.
This video is really helpful and I'm practicing your techniques with the 01.00.0500 firmware update (5/2/2020). I’m basically getting the same results as you teach them here...it loses me in the helix but is pretty good footage till that point. And the dronie works well as you describe. It would be nice if it could follow me on my bike or skis, without having to buy another drone. I really appreciate this kind of training.
Thanks for sharing! Good video👏🏽
Really excellent run through thanks

Fantastic. Great content.
Thanks a lot for this video, I was trying to find the active track in controls yesterday, didn't succeed, then tried quick shots and didn't succeed too. Now I know that I was just not persistent enough.

Thanks! Yeah, it’s mostly just a case or repeatedly trying (a lot). But over time you’ll be able to predict a bit better how the shot might turn out and save a few tries.
This is awesome. I've got my Mini SE sitting on the kitchen bench ready to be wrapped and opened on Christmas day. Looking forward to trying some of this out, and love the Quad Lock tip, although it doen't look as though it's available here in NZ.
Great video

honestly, these shots look better than the active track stuff. I never got active track to really work well on my mavic air so I sold it and got a mini and got 200 bucks back on top. Brilliant tips here. Will definitely try that.
Thanks. That was helpful. I have the Mavic Air. Thinking about getting a Mavic mini as a backup drone.
Great video 👍
Wow, great video, more Mavic Mini content please lol
