Cawayan, officially the Municipality of Cawayan, is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Masbate, Philippines. It has a population of 69,265 people according to the 2020 census. Located 64 kilometers (40 miles) from Masbate City, Cawayan was created as a municipality from portions of Milagros through Executive Order No. 244 signed by President Elpidio Quirino on July 18, 1949.
The municipality is politically subdivided into 37 barangays, including Begia, Cabayugan, Calapayan, Divisoria, and San Jose. Cawayan experiences a tropical climate with an average daily maximum temperature of 29-32°C (84-90°F) and an average annual rainfall of 1,025 mm (40.4 inches)
