I've been working also with 3D modelling for some time in the trial period. For drone deploy they made me an offer for almost 7000 euro/year. If I would like to extract the model as revit file and use it in construction that was an Enterprise cost of around 9000 euro/year. Pretty crazy I would say, even that no one can assure me in how much time do I cover the license. Thanks for the nice video! ;)

Unfortunately, that is not photogrammetry, it is only a 3D reconstruction that is not valid for an engineering project. To be precise, it needs corrections with some GNSS base, otherwise the photography will have scaling errors in one of its x, y, and z vectors."

What do you mean when you say “be safe”?

Do you have to use a rtk base station to do this work?

Do you need to have an RTK base station to do 3D mapping or surveying ?

Where do you insert the sim card to access the NTRIP fixes?

It's not in my plans, the drone disappointed me with the lack of support/feature updates.

I'm just trying to start a photography side gig with my drone n one day building up to doing 3d models. Good to know this isn't out of my league.

It's actually the perfect drone for starting such type of business. Not ridiculously expensive and very easy to use.

ALWAYS shoot RAW for photogrammetry. There is so much information in the shadows and highlights... Sometimes you can get 30-50% more dense point cloud just by editing the RAWs before you export them to JPG

The thing is, shooting raw also slows down the shooting interval, which for some could be crucial. But generally I agree with your point 🙌🏼

@@DroneSupremacy Agreed. But I'd rather spend more time on the site than go back and fly again because the JPGs dont give me a good result. Anyways, I'm a "digital twin" guy, so for me the quality is the most important thing.

I can't find the option to view heights anywhere on my DJI Terra. Are you using a secondary software?

if you want to achieve centimeter accuracy with GPS RTK you always need to have any base station set over known point, or any base station from permanent network, and communicate with rover (drone in this case) through internet (mobile SIM)/radio, if you don't have any of these, you need to have ground control points (GCP) where you then transform survey to set orientation and dimensions of your point cloud

It looks like the precision is in a range of 1cm...is it possible to increase the precision in the range of 1mm?

Does your customer that you are producing the model for, have to have DJI Terra as well to view or do you export in another format?

No, it can be exported in variety of formats so it's easy for the customer to view the model!

Great video. I tested my Mavic 3E yesterday and noticed vignetting on the survey images. It looks like your images have a bit of that too. Didn't seem to make any difference to the finished model though..

Make sure you have enabled the remove distortion option when setting up your mission

@@glherriott Are you sure in that? In the user manual: When using mapping , oblique, and linear tasks, the default camera focus mode is MF infinity, and the distorsion correction is disabled.

Look at his video at 10:10 he has vignetting but the software sorts it out with overlapping images. Don’t enable distortion correction as that will make your survey inaccurate

I think this really sold me on the 3E after seeing how fast it is with the shutter. I would like to still see this compared to the 3T but I'm having no luck getting other pilots response lol Also does DJI Terra come with this drone or do you need still need to buy that software? Have you tried DroneDeploy? Great work and thank you!

I've tried DroneDeploy, as DJI Terra is Windows only. Not sure if it comes with the drone to be honest, i need to double check!

DJI Terra and Pix4d provide way more detailed 3d maps than DroneDeploy. I have seen a comparison and the difference is significant.

Hey Steven, from what I read. DJI Terra would cost you $1550 a year (USD), or you can do a one-time purchase of $4550 USD. The $4550 would be the way to go. That's the route I will take once I purchase the M3E with the RTK add-on. I hope this helps

The photogrammetry: the great unknown.

Great drone and software. But DJI Terra is made for millionaires. These subscription prices are crazy. 5k for a license is not what i am willing to pay for it.
