DJI Mavic 3 Thermal - first time testing out JZ T30 Spotlight - coyote and skunk

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a very rough video. First flight with the JZ T30 Spotlight attached to the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal (M3T). I was confused about how to make adjustments and it was a bit windy. The wind aspect is significant as the spotlight is attached to the drone. It does not have a 3-axis gimbal to steady it like the camera. It does go up and down with the camera angle and I made some adjustments mid-flight to center it, but the spotlight bounces around as I move and it fights the wind. I call the coyote, a deer for the first part of the video. Just me mumbling for most of the video.

Was that full brightness? I am looking at this but to be honest I thought it'd be brighter. How much did you pay and how long did you have to wait? The CZI model is way too expensive. Personally I think, as long you're flying in the calm, a stationary high power light with on/off control would suffice.

I paid $528 for it and it arrived within 2 weeks. It was on the shirt end of their estimate. I set up the customizable buttons on the controller to turn it on and off, and to increase the brightness. I increased the brightness to 48% shortly after I turned it on the first time.

Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to select IR 1.0X instead of IR2.0x? Thank you for your answer. Emile

So I believe the answer is yes. Here is what is going on. When I hit the link icon, it changes my IR zoom to match the approximate viewing area for the regular camera. 2x on the IR shows approximately what 1x on the regular camera. If I unlinked it, I believe I would get to 1x with the IR. I can test this this weekend to be sure, but I'm pretty confident with this answer.

So I tested this and could not get it to change under 2x even without the cameras being linked. I’ll share my test in a little bit.

Thanks for sharing the video. I'm in the market for a Thermo drone and really leaning on this one. Roughly how much would you say that you have invested it in total? Thanks once again.

I bought a three battery rapid charger and have 2 extra batteries. Then the spotlight. Around $6800.

I did not set anything special as far as ranges. I'm not sure how to do that yet so this must be an flexible range by default? I'm not sure. I'm sorry.

Have you noticed how that light is extremely inaccurate during windy conditions? When I fly Mine in the wind at night, the light is always way off from the target. Is this something that you’ve experienced? Idk if there’s a fix to that or that’s just how it is

  • @smithic1

I try to point the drone in the direction of where the wind is coming from and that usually does the trick. It's much better holding the light in the up down direction then left right as the drone fights the wind. If the wind is coming from the right or the left of the drone the drone needs to turn in that direction to fight the wind and that is why the spotlight goes to the side since it is not on the gimbal.

Why is not the light at 100%. And did you turn both light's on?

  • @smithic1

So the light seems to default back to its lowest setting with each flight so you have to either go into the settings to crank it up or assign it to the rocker stick to turn it brighter. This was one of my first flights with it so I was not really aware of all of this. Also, the brighter the light, the more effect it will have on the battery.
