Man it's finally here. I remember watching all your Mavic 2 videos back when I got my first drone, feels like forever ago. I can't believe they managed to squeeze a 4/3 sensor into this thing. The image quality looks insane. Not sure about that "zoom" camera though.

Thanks Billy , another very informative video. The technology in the drone is incredible. Excuse me if this next question has been discussed, but I thought I saw cellular attachment in the promo video and not many are talking about it.

Well done Billy, one of the most informative reviews that I've watched. Also thanks for the sneak on active track 5.0. One reviewer I watched said the Pro res was 1Gb per sec and I cancelled my order on the strength of that info but if it is as you say around 1 hour 20+ then I'm back in, plus with January's update we may still get at least Pro res lite.

This video has helped convince me to getting the Mavic 3 just only a few days ago. I must say, its the best drone I have ever purchased over other DJI drones I've gotten since 2017.

love the review - waiting for mine to arrive. When looking at the forward pitch angle, don't forget that thrust is a vector, so you still need an upward component of that vector to keep it in the air, therefore you can't ever have an aircraft/drone that is flying forward vertically as there would be no upward vector and it would just attain max speed as it buries itself in the ground.

Like a lot of folks, I was pretty shocked by the price but then I got to thinking. I realize a lot of people have gotten into quads in the last few years and don't have a lot of the real history of them but I first started flying multirotors in 2010 and back then when the original Phantom came out in 2013 at $695, I was blown away. I bought one when it dropped to $350 and it was amazing to me. Now, if you look at what the original cost of the Phantom was and what it was/is capable of and then compare it to what the Mavic 3 costs and what it can do, you will realize that the price is pretty great for that performance. I still have my P1, no camera, battery lasts about 8 minutes, but it had GPS which was so F'in cool and kind of revolutionary at the time. You could fly it with no skill and not have to ride the sticks constantly like all my other birds. Start making a list of all the features on the M3 and all of the things it can do and it will be quite a long list in comparison. Like a 100X the performance and capabilities for a little over 3X the price of the P1. When I started to put it into perspective, maybe I will buy the M3.

Your funny, your whole post was to convince yourself to buy it. Bend over and take that price properly from DJI. I will save my money and continue making it with the Air2s.

Great Video. Thankyou for explaining the zoom so clearly. Other KZreadrs haven't done as good a job in that regard. Thankyou for also explaining that that main lense digital 4x to 2nd lense optical 7x jump is going to be smoothed out in firmware updates. Although I expect it will be done by making the main lense digitally zoom to 6x or something. It is disappointing that both cameras have fixed focal lengths (with the 1/2" sensor at a fixed telephoto 7x - so "optical zoom" is a bit of a misnomer) and that all zooming at other than 1x and 7x is done digitally.

Question for you Montrealers, can you fly the Mavic 3 late at night at the Old Port of Montreal below 120m, like say between the ferris wheel to the Biosphere without having an Advanced Pilot’s License?

Awesome Review Billy. You just sold me. But I am just going to get the Fly more combo. No need for the Cine for me. I just wish they made the RC pro controller with a fold out display that can be placed above the sticks. That would be awesome. Looking forward to your reviews of this drone. Can't wait for Active track 5.

I agree with your assessment of the lack of 3:2 aspect ratio. For all of my real estate work I need 3:2, so the 4:3 aspect ratio is a bummer but not a total deal breaker. The 84 FOV of the Mavic 3 compared to the 88 FOV of the Air2s is a big difference.

Hey kyle...great video as usual! Do you ever do range testing in the city or speed test? Also I notice you take a lot of videos in the Manayunk area. Is that the area you currently from? I'm in the Art museum area...beautiful area to live! Was wondering if you could do a drone footage of Mill Creek Valley Park...it's in the Gladwyn area across the Schuylkill..lots of cool structures on the park! Once again..thanks for the video! @@jaycarl1562 funny enough I watched it! Unfortunately the mavic 3 is a disappointment for me over all. Give me a $3500 option with a built in screen, scratch pro res and the 1tb drive and I’ll buy it! My airs2 is wonderful. Will likely just buy the pro controller At this point.

Hey Billy, Please do a video on the video record sweet spots on this camera for both day and night flight, lens aperture sharpness and native ISO for log settings...Over all best cinematic settings...Do we still need to ND the lens or can we stop it down and still have great lens performance throughout he F stops. Awesome video very much appreciated. Just in case it helps anyone I fly an inspire 2 mainly to shoot still photos. I download the sample files and Whilst they are very different machines and very different price point the 20mp inspire dng files look to be a bit cleaner and have a bit less spheric and chromatic aberrations. probably comes down to glass. Saying that I would be happy to fly this drone professionally for many photography jobs . ( I am not a video expert so can't comment )

best initial review i watch so far on m3. it covers things as it should. one thing that comes to my mind with tele lens is search and rescue, for example or maybe visual checking the airspace before the flight etc, they will probably make enterprise version of it, so.. great drone, for sure.

Thanks very much for all your helpful videos!!! I just got my Mavic 3 and did my first flight today. A new video file was created after every 3 minutes 5 seconds of recording. So instead of a continuous 20 minute clip, I ended up with 7 clips. Why is this happening and is it possible to record a single continuous clip? (BTW - I was recording 4K 60, MP4, Normal Color, H.264, CBR, using a SanDisk Extreme SDXC 64GB A2 V30 card) Thanks very much!!!

Thanks for those sample files and an excellent intro to the M3. Exciting to see DJI advance from the 1" sensor. I'm going to stick with my Air 2s for now but maybe one day we'll see this sensor in a single camera version, with optical zoom. Air 3s?

It looks like a gimp mask :-) I am still looking forward to flying my new Air 2S , the weather here in the UK has been terrible, or I am working and by the time I finish it is dark, I have watched the DJI reveal and your video , and I am happy with my purchase , It is not such an upgrade for me.
