I have trouble keeping them from slipping upward in the neckband, which allows the headband to drop down and pinch off my nostrils.

Hey, thank you for this review. I ordered the goggles because of this :) Maybe you can help me? Can you explain me how to playback videos in .mov, .mp4 or .mkv onto the RE? When I copy a video (in a supported format) onto the SD it doesn't show up in the local storage section.Thank you!

Have they fixed the big issue, is the Race version wireless for the Spark. also is the analog FPV compatible with the Spektrum IX12, also the issue with SD recording from live feed and is the HDMI also working as output.

Fascinating and superb video Mad RC. Good Job. So…Since the Occu-Sync can piggy back a traditional 2.4 Ghz radio, does that increase the range of the radio transmission beyond the expected 1-2 miles. Looks like an easy way to obtain long range FPV along with crystal clear video-just saying.

The analog Vid is soooo clear, wow, a little big of latency but, I really enjoy the clear analog vid, the weight is a bit much.

I just ordered this for my Mavic 2 Pro! eagerly awaiting for UPS to come so I can try it out ASAP. Thanks for this video. ...very informative and quite good. I have a couple of those intricate 2.4 controllers and wondering if I can hook them up to my Mavic 2 Pro...any ideas?

Hello yourself Mad ! :-D. I love these Googles. Use them with the Air. However I am considering upgrading to the 2 pro and this has autofocus/Tap to focus. How would you go about adjusting the focus when using the Googles? I havent been able to find much about it online. Thanx for all your great videos! :-)

I have purchased a Googles RE and would like to know your opinion about the scope of the analog FVP of 5.8 ghz. I do not get more than 100 meters. Should I change the antenna?

I cannot see the flight modes on the RE. What am I doing wrong? I have a new Mavic 2 pro. Please help! Thank you

Great review as always, I have a set on order, particularly interested in you showing us how the air unit plumbs into a 3rd party flight controller and displays the OSD. This bit puzzles me as the official DJI video shows Tx/Rx cables to the FC “OSD UART” connector. I can only think this is the Telemetry UART? Do the goggles then show the info in a DJI OSD? Thanks for any insights you can show.

Mad RC Thanks, looking forward to your insight, I’m building what I hope will be an efficient longer duration quad over the holidays specifically for the RE Goggles based around an F4 flight controller. Having flown my Mavic Pro for a fault free year now, (latterly with the great DJI Goggles), I always wish my other quads had the advantage of the DJI Ocusync without the limitations of analogue video. Looking at some other earlybird reviews it looks like the OSD is currently somewhat disappointing, I and probably a lot of other buyers were hoping for much more.

Thanks for the video. Something I have not been able to get a definite answer on. Do I still have to plug my phone into the RC or can I just use the goggles and the RC? I'm flying a mavic pro.

You still are forced to use a phone if you want to go more than 50 meters away.

Very nice- do the goggles come with adjustable lenses to match different eyesight (adjust both ipd and lens distance from screens)? Also wondered if you can use a separate Ocusync unit to plug into a gaming unit or tv etc to watch hd tv or play games wirelessly with the goggles? Thank you

You can just the IPD but not separately, DJI do now sell lens corrections for it too.

Mad RC I have quite a wide ipd.. Hope they go as wide as 72/74mm.. do you know how wide the ipd goes? that's great DJI now do the lens correctors.. Just searched and they're cheaper than the third party 'focal fixers' products..

Could I view flight on a tablet and goggles at the same time ? Say if i want to control mavic pro via a tablet or phone and have someone view flight with goggles ? Super review !

Yes Absolutely DJI allow this, Look in the Manual for the Mavic and the Goggles it shows this setup

Hi. Excellent review. One important thing you mentioned that caught me by surprise. You mentioned that latency is still 110 milliseconds if u r not using the air component.??. I am planning to buy the goggles and use it exclusively for my mavic platinum. I was considering the RE simply bcos I understood it to have a 50 millisecond latency. If what u are saying is true, then no point in buying the RE version. I should rather then just save on my boodle and buy the stardard one. Also, from previous reviews of other reviewers, there was an issue with head tracking where the gimble did not move fast enough when moving your head left to right or vise versa. Do you know if the RE version has the same issue.

The improved latency is only with the DJI Air system as its an improved Ocusync protocol, when used with the Mavic the latency does remain the same as the White goggles.

Great review but does it work for the Mavic Mini or Mavic 2 zoom?

It will work with the Mavic 2 Zoom with Ocusync but the range is vastly reduced compared to the Remote.

EXCELLENT review MAD RC. A few questions: 1) Can you charge these goggles while using them via an external power bank? I’ve heard the battery life is not great. 2) I think you mentioned antennas mounts in the headband? If so, you didn’t talk about those. What are those for and how would I use them? Thanks!! Keep up the fantastic videos! I do my own but am no where clear as articulate than you without saying ummm...and ummm...too much! 😂 😂 😂

Hi thanks for the kind feedback. You can charge while using but it’s not advised as it can confuse the fuel gauge that monitors the battery. As for the antennas in the headband there are a total of 5 antennas in the Google’s, these are used in both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Ocusync mode to get the best possible reception, they are sort of diversity setup.

Depending on version your on yes but its quite complex to say, technically it should work with most versions but with very older firmware you could have issues.

Mad RC I’m having a problem gettin my dji re goggles to connect to my racing drone I have a FrSky qx7 and drone is Diatone gt200 when I hit channel search on the goggles it come up wit nothin but bunch gray lines

Thats odd, the only thing I can say is check the frequency manually, I have spotted there are 2 channels I think It is the Goggles don't support, check what channel frequency your on and see if you can manually select it on the googles and if you can't then try another channel on the VTX

Sadly no not officially unless you use them with hdmi via the dji smart controller.

TYTFan Sig sadly no the latency drop is specifically with the Ocusync Air System, the others it remains the same, I can say it os dramatically now on the Air System in my testing, it’s astonishing tbh.

Do I need 2 sd cards one for googles and one for aircraft great video do you have a video for the phantom 4 advance to set up the googles for that aircraft

Great review... one small issue... i have the old goggles and with that you can record the digital video as well. So that is not a new thing... Just letting you know.

I maybe wrong...I was pretty sure... when I recorded 1080p video locally on my Mavic a local copy was sent to my Goggles in the same way when you took a photo on the mavic a local copy was saved to the goggles. I will have to double check. But the copy saved was just equal to the copy saved on your cell phone and nothing special.

Yes this is correct as it’s not using GPS or DJI Go.

Emiliano Zapatta I believe the X7S has the same Trainer port compatibility so yes should be fine.

Great review with one exception. The analogue FPV portion of these goggles is an 'also ran.' I get a wide, vertical green line down the center of the view and heavy flickering making it unusable for analogue video. It happens when you're actually receiving a signal from a transmitting drone. This problem is wide-spead among users, so I don't no why it's not making it into reviews by vloggers. If DJI is marketing these goggles as an all-in-one, that's a big fail.

I do not and have not had that issue at all, mine work 100% fine in analog mode. The reason why you finding it’s not being mention is that are also probably not getting it. This has to be related to channel frequency on the VTX.

@@MadRC I've read about others getting the same issue, though not on this channel. It may be a QC issue with the analogue receiver, because I will see it, reboot the goggles, and sometimes it goes away (quad not touched).

Biggest problem with the goggles is there is NO FOCUS adjust. You can wear glasses - no problem at all, but most glasses, unless they are just magnifiers, have a set focal distance. Mine is about 16 inches from my face. The screens are about 1.5 inches from your face. I have found I have to wear magnifiers when I use my goggles. I am an older person 50+, but it is probably not going to be a problem for younger pilots. Only had the goggles for about 2 weeks, and I will say that despite this problem they are worth every dollar I spent so far.

Mine has light coming in on both sides of my face. It is so annoying and makes the goggles useless outdoor.

excellent review are you going to get into installation of the air module ? these are amazing and if you are into dual platforms (DJI and multimotors) these are essential. Check out DRONERACER101 for an excellent video on installing the air module !
