Brilliant Gavin, the Air 2s is my first drone with Active Track and its a ton of fun. The kids and I went through all three batteries playing around with this feature in the garden on Sunday!

Haha ! Mate I've absolutely busted my balls so to speak to get these videos out. Got a further 4 sat ready to launch ! Then the fimi mini arrives soon ! Can't keep up.

the apas on the Air 2S is amazing, i did a test on a nearby trail and it was nearly flawless, great vid...i love this drone, although my pockets hate me lol

I'd love to pull the trigger on getting this drone, but I just got the Mini 2 a few months ago. The active track is certainly a selling point as you illustrated here.

Works so well! The sad thing is DJI could give us tracking on the mini 2 but save it for the more expensive models. Then again with no obstacle avoidance I can imagine if it did have it there would be lots of crashed drones

Have you tried Parallel with side flight turned off? I'm sure I have seen a vlog where that was done but I cant find it again.

Great demonstration. I’m on the fence with the Air 2S particularly for photography. I already have the Air 2 and love it. Did you face any issues with the props in the video and incorrect altitude? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you

I sure did ! I was the one that reported the altitude issue but I don't now believe it's the drone I believe it is the DJI fly app as others have reported it. No props in the video I think it was relating to quickshots.

If I’m doing active track and I need to stow the controller. How do I prevent buttons from being pressed? I haven’t seen a lock feature on the controller.

Nice test! Seems to do a bit better than my Air 2. I like how it attempts to reacquire the subject. If only it had side sensors, but it can’t have everything I suppose.

Hi Victor, 100% go for the fly more combo. You really want more than one battery when you're on location

Can you adjust altitude for tracking?or what is the highest altitude for tracking?

Fantastic test well done!!! Now another similar test if possible, but now riding on a bike

A good vid ,explanation of the obstacle avoidance test. You could have gone one step further, ride a bike at a speed same route to see if it would have been able to avoid the branches etc. would have been great to see if its worth buying as i'm looking to buy, for mountain biking Thanks

It has side detection mode in that mode it will angle.

No it automatically slants like the air 2 and it gives you a little bit leeway for side obstacle avoidance. Seen a comparison video of the MA2 and MA2S. But got the same results

You done well there gavin I would of been panicking going through them trees 🌳 after just laying out that money 😁 but it does look good I just don't think ill get away with purchasing and drone after the air 2 and not had much use out of it because of the lockdown but I will try hardest cos like yaself love gadgets and love dji because of the simplicity of there software even down to the osmo pocket 2. Can't wait for you to do active track on the car look forward to that one 😀 cheers gavin

Yes I think that's probably enough spending ! Well I try to do tests that make sense to me and put it through its paces so other people know what it's good and bad points are. You seriously need to do more with the pocket 2, I have a few videos ready to launch and soon as Freewell get done back in stock. Yeah it should be fun with the car ! Cheers for watching

Also, if you keep the drone slightly ahead or behind you in parallel, the angled flying keeps apas working all around, try to keep it near 45 degrees and it's ridiculous good...even at high speeds

Wow very interesting video.... I'm thinking of getting my Air 2S Fly More Combo for Christmas... Still giving DJI time to release the Mini 3! Lol I'd love a Mini 3 over an Air 2S.. Been thinking about all the features and quality that the Air 2S has and something is telling me it a bit too much for me.. Also I like to fly over people and with an Air 2S I think they'll notice it easier than my Mavic Mini or my Mini 2... But I do really love the Air 2S and will probably get it for Christmas, unless a new Mini comes out.. 😁🛸🇧🇬🙏 Awesome video, watching it all! Sweet Keep well and be safe Gavin! 🇧🇬🛸😁🙏

Thanks Ivan! Yes I think so also, people certainly notice the mini! I saw the player on your video earlier look up at you! Did you see? It has lots of features and a fantastic drone but you need to make sure you use them to take advantage otherwise it's quite expensive !

Good one, it did really well. But to fair on the drone the leaves on the bushes aren't that thick at the moment. But no complaints about the performance of it.

Hi David! Generally I think the thicker leaves would help it somewhat even further allowing it to sense more so considering they were so thin I think it did amazing 🙂 it certainly exceeded my expectations

very impressive gav,,and dont worry i am sure in about 6 months they will do side sensors for them and just add several hundred pounds,,,,,,but i must say i am impressed,,,,good vid thanks for sharing

I might get one I’ve only had my air 2 - 2 months and flown it twice lol so still teething 😨😂 but that’s of to dji as I’m running the latest firmware but my app keeps prompting me to update I’ve tried everything but it still flys ok any thoughts welcome Cheers gav 🙏🏻

Ever tried it indoor?

I don’t see enough improvements over the A2 to buy. Without side sensors it’s not much better than it’s predecessor. Better camera but not that much better. It’s Trace is ok but you were very kind in avoiding tight spots. If I didn’t have the A2 I would purchase it but I would not replace the A2 with this. Thanks again for a good update.

This is why I'm trying to not compare the drone as such and try review it on its own merits and let you the viewer decide. I think s lot of people think like you and it's a lot of money as an upgrade!

Nice video but the test is a bit wrong. You muat not atop in active track keep moving all the time dont stop in each tight area. The drone avoids obatacles much easier when you dont stop. That struggles the drone. Only stop when it loses you.

You are absolutely correct but to be honest after the active track on the Mavic air 2 I wanted to watch how it behaved in person as I was genuinely surprised how well it did. Yes indeed the faster I walked the better it was but I was also trying to present a video as you can imagine so the constant flow wasn't ideal - plus I think the drone did a better job at getting round than I did! 🙂 Thanks for watching and your comment

I've watched a few of these tracking tests fail on this drone now . dji's response was not great . If I wanted tracking a skydio would be the choice 100%

Not so bad if you go slow. When you go fast it takes too long to stop. It is pretty dangerous i think. DJI is stil far away from the tracking of the skydio 2.

All they have to do is make the gimbal be able to rotate and you don't need side sensors. The drone can fly straight forward with the camera angled 90deg towards you to get parallel shots. I don't know why DJI is so obsessed with adding sensors everywhere when you can accomplish the same with fewer sensors if you just added a rotatable gimbal.
