En toutes circonstances Django semblait être un prince, et qu'il était d'une certaine façon ; un homme tellement particulier aussi, hors du commun, comme le musicien que nous savons qu'il était.

I agree with EVERY comment that says Django was the BEST guitar player in popular music. Django is my ALL time top Favourite. He is the progenitor. He would have been bopping had he lived. If you wanna learn to play ANY genre of popular music start at Django and you will be able to play ANYTHING if you stick to guitar, and Djangos lessons, which are his songs he gave us and ALL the improvised versions. He was a century ahead of his time and everyone else.

WONDERFUL PHOTOS!!! Spent more time freeze-framing than listening. His aura is a copy of Duke Ellington. Django carried the mantle of The Duke. How difficulty can be effortless is the message i hear in his playing~a lill' too slippery for my taste so the photos prove how out of this world he was.Particularly like how other musicians light up around him.Thx

Idem dito ... Great compilation of pictures. Definitely if you have been introduced to the man near 20 years ago. He speaks to me now. Django playing away in the thirties talks to me a clearer story than later on... but yeah the 30ies to me was that for a lot of music... Xxxx

@@jean-lucbersou758 personally I'm not some glam metal head banger. Gesualdo , Lassus, Morley, Palestrina etc. They're my crowd, but yes , obviously Django and Wes are definitely geniuses. Musicianship and art are not limited to any particular type of music.

@@bobboscarato1313 no he never played Bebop.Listen to his lines - they have nothing to do with Charlie Parker. He played with young French musicians who did play bebop but he only took a few superficial cliches from Bird like #9's and flat 5ths -- but Parker never ended phrases with 'outside' notes like Django did.And how can you not like the piece ''Impromptu'' used as the audio here?? Its absolutely fantastic and totally a natural development from his 30-s and early 40's work.
