DJ Trace & MC Ryme Tyme | Jungle Classics 1994 | Kool FM 94.5 (Pirate Radio)

Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. DJ Trace was an established producer on the Lucky Spin Recordings Label. He started off on Don FM before making a switch to the prestigious Kool FM. He had bags of dub plates and was always playing fresh sounds. Trace and Ryme- Tyme were renowned partnership on Kool FM and the Jungle Scene, at raves like Kool Skool and Jungle Fever.
The DJ and MC duo would rock the airwaves for many years on the 94.5 FM dial. One of Trace's most celebrated tracks is "Sonar" on Prototype Records, released in 1998.
In 1999, Trace founded the DSCI4 record label, which is currently still releasing tracks. One of those releases was entitled " Dibby". Also teaming up with Optical on Virus Records to produce some absolute classics: Trace & Optical - Mercury Switch / Kridian (2000). Trace's most recent productions were released on CNVX label on an EP, in March 2019: DJ Trace ‎- Opaque EP - Featuring tracks like: Opaque / Kyoto / Substance / Nest. It's interesting when you look at the career of a DJ like Trace who's had a long consistent journey from the Hardcore days, through Jungle era up till now in the Drum & Bass scene. Maximum props to a true heavyweight. Let's not forget this his contribution to pirate radio.
Lastly, if any of the old skool crew are interested in hearing DJ Trace and MC Ryme Tyme perform they are still active on the DNB circuit playing sets @DSCI4 rave night which hosted in a number of European cities, notably London (The Victoria Dalston) and Berlin (@clubGRETCHEN).
London's FM dial was crammed with pirate radio stations with Kool FM, Weekend Rush FM, Defection FM, Rude FM, Rinse FM, Eruption FM, Don FM, Flex FM, Chillin' FM, Conflict FM, Stompin FM, Pulse FM, Dream FM and many other stations. 1994 saw the London and UK's clubs being taken over by epic roadblock Jungle raves like: World Dance @Lydd International Airport, Heat @The Crypt (Hastings), Orange @Hippodrome, Thunder & Joy @Raw Club, Heat 1994 @The Warehouse (Maidstone), Telepathy 1994 @Roller Express (Edmonton), Jungle Splash 1994 In Vietnam @The Rocket (Holloway Rd), Morning After Presents Jungle Eggsperience 1994 @The Gardening Club (Covent Garden), Thunder & Joy 1994 Christmas @Bagleys, Roast @Astoria (Charing Cross), Pure X @Que Club (Birmingham), New Jack City @Roller Express, Labrynth @Club Labrynth (Dalston), Jungle Splash 1994 Showcase @Bagleys (Kings Cross), Jungle Soundclash 1994 Heavyweights Of Jungle @Roller Express, Jungle Dawn @Brewery Rd (London N1), Jungle Mania @Astoria, Jungle Fever 1994 On Ice @Stevenage Ice Arena, Jungle Fever 1994 Gods Of The Jungle The 2nd Lick @The Sanctuary (Milton Keynes), Jungle Fever 1994 The Lion Returns! @Roller Express, Desert Storm @Roller Express, AWOL @Ministry Of Sound, Dreamscape @The Sanctuary.

If anyone's got any summer / autumn 1995 recordings of Trace & RymeTyme on Kool then please do upload them (or send them to me to upload). Most of my tapes are gone. That specific period where Trace was playing all the very early origins of what would be known as the techstep sound were such amazing sets, but there seem to be none from that time online.
