DJ Target & 13 MCs (Wiley + Many More) | The Ultimate Jungle Rinse Out 1996 on Rinse FM

Музыка

Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. THIS IS WHERE WILEY LEARNT THE ART OF CLASHING. Big up @WileyUK. He's been clashing MCs from day one. This was an ultimate rinse out recorded in 1996 of an old school Jungle set on 97.6 Rinse FM with DJ Target (BBC Radio 1Xtra) and 13 MCs: Wiley, Carbon, BK, Major Skits, Plague, Riddles, Mystery Major, Fenton, Caspit, Blade, Lady ST, Lady Dyer and Lady Sweetie. It was also a sound clash aimed at Kool FM. After this show people started taking note. In response to all this if you hear one of Skibadee lyrics at the time he aimed it at Rinse FM and other stations competing against Kool: "Radio One can't touch dis! Rinse! What rinse dem out without a doubt all of the roughneck scout. All of dem talk 'bout Eruption but dem can't touch the number one", 00:53:16 on • Skibadee, Shabba D, Sh...
It goes without saying that Kool FM dominated the airwaves before, during and after this recording. However, that's not us taking a knock at what Rinse FM was producing. Those days were fun exciting times with unlimited pirate radio stations to listen to and Rinse FM was definitely ranked as one of our favourites during that era.
There have been many discussions about the impact of this show and how it set the pace for others to follow. In fact a lot crews that came after this self modelled themselves and their style to this, not just up and coming Jungle MCs but Garage MCs in particular. The bottom line is Rinse FM were innovators and they were big influencers, not followers.
To those of you who are familiar with the clashes in the Grime scene, you can see where Wiley's roots lie, beginning with this Kool FM clash, moving to UK Garage with his infamous clash against the Heartless Crew @Destinys Watford. Then his clashes with Durrty Goodz, Boyz in The Hood, Asher D (Ashley Walters, of So Solid), More Fire Crew, Lethal B (Lethal Bizzle), Fire Camp, Ghetto (Wiley vs Ghetts (Risky Roadz), Lord of The Mics clash with Wiley Vs Kano. In recent years Wiley also clashed Dot Rotten, Skepta and Stormzy with: Wiley - Eediyat Skengman (Stormzy Send), releasing a string go follow ups dissing Stormzy. It was by no coincidence that Wiley has been dubbed the "King of Grime", "The Godfather" and other accolades. His fiery pugnacious style is still what brings him the limelight as the Grime scene evolves.
Shouts out to the original 97.6 and 91.8 Rinse FM massive so many names to mention: DJ Geneeus, DJ Target, DJ Trend (RIP), DJ Roy B, DJ Suss 1, DJ Woody G, DJ Slim Fast (DJ Slimzee), DJ Nicky Slim Ting, DJ Diesle (D Power), DJ Sharkey (aka DJ A Plus), DJ Stingray, DJ Majestic, DJ Opium, DJ Admiral, DJ Fury, DJ Switch, MC Wiley, MC Riko Dan, MC Breeze, MC Ace (Major Ace (RIP)), MC Pepsi (Gods Gift), MC Riddles, Stamina MC, MC Plague, Maxwell D (Maxwell Ranger), MC Trouble, MC Paco, MC Breakfast Man, MC Carbon, MC Major Skits, MC BK, MC Caspit, MC Blade, MC Mystery Major, MC Fenton, MC Stinga Bee, MC Lady ST, MC Lady Sweetie, MC Lady Dyer, MC Beanie, MC DUB & loads more.
Big up the crew that remember the big tunes of 1996: London's Most Wanted ‎- Bear Witness (Chronic 7), Gang Related & Mask - Suckers / Biters, Change - Lemon D, Box Of Tricks - Roni Size, The 45 Roller ‎- Killa Bee, Gang Related & Mask - Not Not / Dictation, The Message - Shy FX, Lunar Bass - Origin Unknown, and Related & Mask - Ready Or Not / Sky, Concept 2 - Cause n' Effect, Angles - DJ Krust, Buck Rogers - Firefox, Shimon & Andy C - Night Flight, Lets Go To Work - DJ Kane, DJ Swift - On The Beat, Origin Unknown - Truly One, Chopper (Shy FX Remix), DJ Kane & The Dynamic Duo - Dogstoppa, Emperor Selassie I (King Of Kings) (LL. Double Remix), Tribe Of Issachar Ft: Peter Bouncer ‎- Fever, Nasty Habits ‎- Shadow Boxing.
Out to all the London FM pirates of the past. Hello mate, just wanted to say a big thank you for the channel man. Been a pirate junkie for the past 25 years........ Found it yesterday and some of these sets are unreal. I've also got a big favour to ask...... I had a tape about 20 years ago and it had a chat on it I've never heard ever again..... obviously went and lost my Walkman in Southend which had the tape in it......It was one of those tapes that had bits from Kool / Rinse ( possibly Rude ) and maybe even Charge FM / Sub Zero ( yeah, it was that long ago ) / possibly Y2K. It was all over the place but it was the bollocks ( like all the ones you lose ) This chats bugged me for years ( 20 and counting........), always wondered who it was and if theres anyway I could hear it again. The chat went something like : Whos that man in the grandad hat attack cause you you know you whack it attack it crack it never stack it slack it cause a racket spliff or packet back it so low nab it chat it cause i got the b line smack it come bring the boy testing bring the boy testing bring the boy testing to get the bullet i bust hide up in a da set mc chat while dj mix it move up up on the lick with the charlie kick, do it come to give it legit, cause the dj man so fantastic NEXT MC original nutter. head butter. boy testing get left in the gutter original nutter. head butter. boy testing get left in the gutter original nutter. head butter. boy testing get left in the gutter Any ideas mate would be well appreciated.....it might just be one of them sets that's lost forever, two boys got on the mic for the night , never really did again and its now gone....... Any help from you or anyone would be well appreciated, its so long ago though........ Anyway, thanks again for all the uploads fella, keep em coming......I got quite a few Cyndicut sets on tape but you've already got the best ones up and I managed to fuck my Nicol / Fatman one........( Anyone got this....bang it up! )

@@jboardy5439 We are getting it up at the end of the month and we will share it. It will coincide with our 5th birthday and the project's aim will be to design a range of initiatives that we can pilot that will out live us and continue way after we are all gone. Essentially, its love and respect for the culture and our collective legacy is far greater than any penny or pound. I know a lot people say that but we believe in the collective spirit and we are proud of our London roots and culture and just like other cultures are proud of their own. I never understood this until I stepped outside the country and realised how amazing this all was and how the world loves it and is interested in it. There are many names and people that need their flowers and need celebrating some who have left us. We want to make this happen and get it all registered with an ISBN and give copies to British Library and other archives and universities. Obviously the project will take time but the determination and drive is there. We are all driven to it. The spirit of togetherness and oneness is larger than life itself! Bless up!

This is a set everyone must hear!! This show was a landmark set!! Rinse FM officially sending for Kool FM. I think at this point no one had ever heard or had seen 13 MCs go back to back in such fashion. Even the female MCs were repping hard!! Now one can understand the culture of clashing that Wiley possessed when you take a look at this. To be Jungle MC you had to be on point, much harder than Garage and Grime for flow and delivery. Stormzy was three years old when this happened. Just saying lol!!
