    because Dr Dre gets regarded as the best producer from the west on the regular & sometimes gets called the best ever in the game..& real heads know that isnt true facts... Dre is not as good as Quik when it comes to making original music..not good as Battlecat either..not as good as Daz either .... not as good as Hutch...

    it really is. his vision is what's needed in the game today. I love his music, his artistry, just everything. I mean virtually came up as rap was being made. his time may have came and gone but his legacy .. I don't know man. we still need him I think. modern hip hop just ain't where it's at no more. it doesn't have the same feel as it did back when rap had no identity and first came out. now it's just bought out and branded pretty much. but with his touch anything's possible. I'm optimistic when I hear him. he was the difference maker then. And he's probably going to be the differnece maker now. As someone whose seen the rise and fall of this brand of music I hope he's there when it resurfaces. 💯💯

    *Eastside Low Bottoms shit !* As a fan, i could probably go on forever about his music. He is the definition of a Musician. He's a musician that possesses the ability to rap. His music was always enjoyable to me since Quik Is The Name. But what made me a FAN-fan was Rhythmalism, namely We Still Party. To this day, that's STILL one of the coldest pieces to ever be made ! U hear that bassline ? That piano in the background ? That guitar in the hook ? The way he flows over all of that ? Dammit man ! I'm gassed up now. I'll be listening as soon as I'm done ! That album has HEAT on it ! I'm from South Central Los Angeles. I remember being "between cars", riding the bus and working in the city of Maywood in a warehouse. Whn Rhythmalism came out, i had the cassette. Yes, the cassette ! I didn't want to listen to it too much kz i knew i was going to WEAR DAT SHIT *OUT* as soon as i got another car ! So I'd listen on my Walkman headphones only once a week. I'd 'reward' myself every Friday ! There's a snippet of a recorded video of Quik on talkbox (RIP Mr. Troutman) titled 'I Stay Strapped'. I WANT THAT SONG ! I listen to it over and over just to hear the bassline along with the vocals that blend together oh-so lovely ! Not to mention all of the production that he's done for others. His artist Mausberg (RIP); his album 'Nonfiction' that came out in the early 2000's has HEAT on it ! My favorites hv to be No More Questions, Get Nekkid and the coldest one of 'em all, Tha Truth Is. Again, that cold bassline along with the keyboards, topped of with some FONKY guitar ! Dammit man ! 'Pet Semetary' 'Nobody' ft. Suga Free Suga Free's 'Angry Enuff' Talib Kweli's 'Put It In The Air' 'Streetz Iz Callin' ' 'Killer Dope' 'Fire and Brimstone' 2nd II None's 'Got A Nu Woman' AMG's 'Perfection' Hi-C's 'Coochie Coochie' The Fixxers 'Smoke II Much' Xzibit's 'Sorry I'm Away So Much' Mausberg/Suga Free's 'Pimpin' ' Suga Free's 'Born Again' 2nd II None's 'Up In Da Club' I'll stop there...just a few references for anyone that's not in the know. Much love and respect Quik, and to all that read and take heed ! ✊🏾✌🏾💪🏾

Then there are great producers like: DJ Paul, Havoc (of Mobb Deep), Daz Dillinger, Warren G., Dr. Dre, DJ Premire, Organized Noize (Rico Wade, Sleepy Brown, & Ray Murray), Beats By the Pound/The Medicine Men (Craig B, KLC, Mo B. Dick, & O'Dell), Tha Chill, Cold 187um/Big Hutch, & Jermaine Dupri. I also would like to see a BlaQKout (DJ Quik & Kurupt) & Big Boi and Killer Mike (of OutKast/ The Dungeon Family) joint album.

  • @GM53946

    @GM53946

    6 жыл бұрын

    Or perhaps if there had been no Dr. Dre, Compton would have been on the same level as the Bay Area, i.e. successful in the mid-90s but never establishing itself as a music phenomenon with worldwide recognition... Note that IMO Quik is a better musician and producer than Dre. Not by a lot, but Safe + Sound exceeds even The Chronic and Doggystyle in its musicianship, and Quik did that himself. With some people playing the instruments, of course, but still, Dre had both such people and other producers helping with his records. Yet Quik never made a big hit on a Nuthing But A G Thang level, while Dre has a dozen or so of them under his belt. And that's the difference. Dedicated fans will listen to Quik's beats and marvel at his talent, but the average listeners out there only pay attention to the hits. That something like Keep Tha P In It (and some 50 other Quik songs like that) are musical masterpieces is something they lack the capacity to appreciate.

    The lady doing the interviewing is lacking some knowledge in a few things. For one, In NYC, Rick James is played on radio practically everyday at some point on more than one station. She is trying to compare legendary artist who have a catalog of work with an artist that may have a hit record or 2. That's like comparing a child to an adult. Secondly, she doesn't seem to know much about Compton and the community. Dj Quik is dropping so much knowledge. I'm loving this info. Great interview.

    The problem with Quik is he wanted to be underground with mainstream success.NWA got lucky bcuz of that Fuck the Police song was controversial and the same with Ice-T.To go platinum you need top 20 singles like he had on his first album but since then he stopped doing that he even said Tonite and Born & Raised were not planned that way they just blew up bcuz they were dope songs.Since most of his music is upbeat and feel good and he knew how to make anthems i always thought he could've went to a new level after Rhythmalism by being a Kanye mixed with some Jay Z but it never happened.I thought Quik could make songs like Kanye's Slow Jams in his sleep.The best songs he made that were anthems since Tonite were Pitch In Ona Party and Get Down which is good at down south family reunions but not crossover songs for white people to bump in the suburbs.Its too bad we never got that Eazy-E,Quik,and AMG album bcuz i feel that album could've been dope and he might would've had more respect back then in the game

    I read Donald Passman’s “ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE MUSIC BUSINESS” which undoubtedly, caused me NOT TO SELL A BEAT because I WENT IN ASKING FOR BACK-END ROYALTIES! WOW: 2nd II None. OH WELL, I LOVED THAT 1ST ALBUM, THAT SHIT WAS DOPE! I STILL LISTEN TO IT ON MY IPOD! RAPPERS DELIGHT if you asked me, WAS THE SHIT! And those earlier SUGAR HILL RECORDS, I LOVE THE MUSIC ON THEM from that band that Sylvia Robinson put together. THOSE RECORDS WERE FUNKY AND DOPE: Sugar Hill v Furious Five, Apache, 9th Wonder, Rapper’s Delight; MAN PLEASE, THOSE RECORDS ARE CLASSIC AND I LOVED THEM SHITS TO THIS DAY! Compton, BOY DO I SEE THE MASON DIXON LINE IN CALIFORNIA (where I’ve lived now for the past 2 Yrs). I hang out in Marina Del Rey, Venice, Studio City, North Hollywood, Beverly Center, The Grove, Wilshire/Miracle Mile. I SEE NO FUCKING BLACK PEOPLE! I’M LIKE WHAT THE FUCK! ALL I SEE ARE BEAUTIFUL MIDDLE AGE AND YOUNGER WHITE WOMEN IN YOGA PANTS WITH THEIR ASSES LOOKING DELICIOUS, while they’re looking at me like, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING OVER HERE? WHY AREN’T YOU IN COMPTON? I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE COMPTON IS!!!
