Legendary super producer DJ Premier on TBC!!! A pioneer in Hip Hop. Him & the late great Guru, made soulful jazzy Hip Hop as Gang Starr. This man has produced CLASSICS for Geto Boys, Group Home, KRS-One, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Nas, AZ, Jay-Z, Biggie, Buckshot (Black Moon), D.I.T.C. Big L, Fat Joe, Mobb Deep, Jadakiss, Common, Kanye West, Royce Da 5'9, Bun B, Ludacris, The Game, etc.... Premier drum kicks & mixing the records are UNTOUCHED!!! Even though he from 5th Ward Houston, Texas.... Dude came to NY & the rest is history. I will ALWAYS remember Premier as an East Coast DJ.

I was in D&D studios auditioning some tracks for Tony Touch back in the day, not even expecting Premier to be in the building. I'm not there for 5 minutes and who walks in on the session? DJ Premier! My jaw must have fell on the floor, I was stunned. He walks in and says, "anybody got a Dutch? I need a Dutch real quick." I sheepishly reached into my backpack and got the White Owl I was saving for later and, hands trembling, dutifully handed it to Primo. I think he nodded his head one time to the beat that was playing and told me I was in good company with Touch and them. I think I said something stupid like, "Premier, your my idol when it comes to the beats." Something he probably heard a million times before. It was surreal.

What I love most about this interview is that they gave him the utmost respect. This is a living legend and he deserves nothing less than reverence and humility. Amazing stories and an impeccable level of credibility. Premo's memory is off the charts and we truly need more seasoned mentors like this, especially since he STILL creates classic material.

Top 5 producers ever: 1. Quincy Jones : mastermind behind "off the wall", "thriller", & "bad" enough said about him. 2. Dr.Dre : reshaped modern hip hop & gangsta rap beats 3. Timbaland: genius behind the boards. 4. Dj Premier: this guy is a dj & producer can't exlain how dope that is. 5. Pharell: i said pharell instead of neptunes because people forget how many hits this guy made without his partners in neptunes. other honerable mentions: kanye west, switzz beats, just blaze, eminem, scott scorch, q-tip, teddy riley, havoc too many to name lol
