Being from Memphis and growing up on 3-6 i’ll agree with Paul and say they got love here at home. I’d say its because they’ve been around for soooo many years and all the old bullshit is in the past and they’ve left a great southern hip hop legacy at home that still bumps today.

I know exactly of that dark vibe that DJ Paul speaks of concerning Memphis. I'm from Gary, Indiana and my city has that same dark, ominous, and gloomy vibe. Like some shit is about to go down any second. Nonetheless, a person can feed off that vibe to motivate themselves out of it. That's what Paul, Juice, Pat, Lord, etc. were able to do.

Hickory Hill done got bad, but Germantown, Collierville, Lakeland, hell even parts of Hickory Hill not that bad. these rappers and social media have gassed Memphis up like its some war zone.. I been here in east Memphis my whole life and I'm 34. I know its crime in the city, but you can live your day to day life and not become a victim

My pops been in oak haven and parkway villages for 35years. We moved there from south Memphis Kerr Ave. Oakhaven is still pretty nice, clean. Yards kept mowed and quiet.

Ain't no suburbs in Memphis. Bartlett, collierville, germantown , ect aren't apart of memphis.

It's a different breed in Memphis... That's why you never see a our artist get they chain took or get punked. Anybody can get got.... But in Memphis 9/10 mfs grew up wit the shits. And been seeing mfs get beat up robbed all the time so you know how to spot it.
