See Rane note 109 -- Why not Wye? A summing network made of 2 300-ohm resistors in a y config sums the 2 channels safely.

Dude. Of course it will work and will work just fine. Have done it in the past without issues. The only thing I’d say is get the right y adapter instead of using other adapters to fix the one you have. Shoot the other week I had to get a y adapter for a quick fix for a few days and found both types at auto zone. 😂 good luck 🍀

You can't sum stereo signals like that. and that splitter cable from Algo, what it actually does is take the left signal and copy it to a stereo output, and does the same for the right signal, the software will always output the cue signal to the left channel or right channel depending on the software it varies, and that is why on some software the cue output will be master and the master output will be cue, so u have to play around with it. your RCA Y cable will not sum up the stereo into one cable. The signals will be competing and it will be either the left or the right signals that will go through to the PA. if you are using VDJ then simply use the mono on the software, i know you don't like it but that way nothing has to be done to the setup. Serato has that as well.

Hi Brian, I also used such a cable from Traktor before I bought a Mixer - helped me a lot by just using my DJ Software and my MacBook without a Mixer. Todays I‘m using a Pioneer DDJ 800 plus (hopefully) a Tascam Model 12 (if available in 2 weeks after waiting 3 month) 🕺🏻🙏✅

I am looking for a DJ mixer that has a mono button! Many years ago I had a NYE gig at a club and they had me in the center of a long room on a stage. Half the sound was going one way and half was going the other way. I regretted not having mono that night. Also many oldies have vocals on one side and instruments on the other.

Hey that's why I found this video! Glad to know it works! I'll have to order one. Ya my CRT I picked up second hand only has mono. So you used it for like a SNES or Genesis and it worked?

Yes ideally you need to put some inline resistors in series with the left and right hot conductors to sum the two channels correctly as someone else said use 300 ohms should work these could be mounted inside the RCA plugs so won’t be seen externally

Probably not a dummy tip. Sometimes the cromeplated tip falls off the plastic peg its sat on so you end up with just a white plastic tip.

Do you still have that little DBX Go Rack? That has a stereo summing input to mono output option.

I’d be interested in getting one of those algorithm Y cables. I’d use it for PCDJ.

A quick trip to Radio Shack would have you all set...if the Shack was still around.

It will work. I did that with old PCDJ, out from laptop to an old Numark mixer.

It will work and shouldn't upset a Pioneer mixer, but ideally you should feed something buffered (like another small mixer). I prefer to always mix down to mono as stereo is intended for specific listening and speaker positions, not a club bar. Mix down with mp3 will reveal the phasing flaws in the format, but lossless will be fine.

Yeah it will and I tried it! When my gear for DJing was just a laptop and speakers no mixing board no actual dj controller. I Had to find a way to listen in the next music when doing the cue. I started out as a poor dj with no real dj equipments

It’ll work, it’s not stereo but mono twice (if that makes any sense 😂)

I'm not going to be using VDJ tonight. That would make it easy, as would a mono switch on the mixer

  • @daviDJacome1975

It should work OK. Just the left output will miss part of the sound on most songs and will give a weaker signal than the combined left and right

  • Жыл бұрын

It sounds better if you have a passive summing mixer, and that's just resistors. This will work but may not be ideal - blame impedance.

The pros will tell you a Y cable is the wrong way to do it, but it will totally work and pretty much everyone who has needed to sum to mono is guilty of using a Y cable.
