DJ Dave / Malaysian singer / Full Biography and Discography

Музыка

Have you ever heard of "DJ Dave"? For more than 50 years, he has carved a reputation for himself in Malaysia and across the world through his music, arts, social issues, charity, sports, and business. This is only a slice of the pie, recounted in his honor on the occasion of his 75th birthday. Ladies and gentlemen, lend me your ears.1) Dhammi Jagjit Sukhadave affectionately known as “DJ Dave” was born on Valentine's Day in 1948 in the peaceful village of Kuala Kubu Baru and grew up in Tanjung Malim. He was born into a humble and hardworking family that never let anyone leave the house without a meal. His father Granthi Jugjit singh, who served as a priest for four decades while his mother, lady Karam Kaur was a natural beauty and songbird.2) Growing up, life wasn't easy. He learned all he could from his parents, even chores. He was active and enjoyed being outside with other kids, flying kites, playing marbles, and swinging like Tarzan along the tall trees above the river. Although he loved playing, he also helped his parents care for his younger siblings and made chapati in the kitchen. A "Kampung Boy" at heart, he never forgets his roots. Being the eldest, he cared for his parents until their last breath.3) He spent much of his childhood with his grandfather, who was stern and strict. As a punishment if he came home late, he had to sleep outside thehouse. This training has made him stubborn and driven in life. Dave lives his life by three strong disciplines: time, health, and money management, and he strongly believes that if you remember and apply these, you can never go wrong.4) He keeps in touch with his classmate through regular get-together sessions in Port Dickson every six months, where they reminisce while belting out classic tunes from the Beatles, Bee Gees, and Cliff Richard.5-1) Although Dave was unable to follow his dream of becoming a doctor, his natural singing abilities made him a singer. His adventurous career began in the 1970s when he was asked by RTM to sing Hindi songs at a Hari Raya show at one of the OKU center.5-02)Following his performance, a 14-year-old boy in a wheelchair came up to him and asked Dave to sing a Hindi song, "Gustakhi Maaf" (Forgive Me), in Malay.Moved by the boy's request but unable to reciprocate, because he was not fluent in bahasa, he was troubled and unable to sleep that night because he could not fulfil that young lad's song request.5-03)That sleepless night marked the start of his musical career, which lasted more than 50 years. In 1971, he was able to secure an audition at a recording station near the Post Office in Section 17, PJ, where he was working at the time. He bravely attempted a Malay song and was mocked for his lack of Bahasa Malaysia. He worked hard, returned six months later, not to mention (twisting the arms of his friends and colleagues), and recorded a hit, followed by another and another.6) His hit songs ‘Ingin Bersua’ and ‘Maafkanlah’, first came to fame with the release of his 1972 debut album and has kept him busy in the entertainment industry for the past five decades. He really hasn't changed much (even physically) and can still wear the outfits he used to wear on stage in the 1970s.7) His fame and musical talent over 50 years have resulted in over 43 number-one albums as well as countless prizes, not just for his music but also for his extraordinary efforts as a philanthropist and champion of social issues.8) He always makes sure the children or those with less are included in his yearly birthday celebrations, and this year was no exception. Even the pandemic couldn't stop him from spending his birthday with the special children and generously sharing what he has with them as it brings him joy.9) Dave appreciates all people, regardless of colour or religion. "Always wish people well. In your heart, practice a religion of love. Don't question them about their ideas. Respect others while believing in your religion. You'll be on the right track. Also, forgive," he says. Having been hurt by many people in different ways, he never holds it against them. Simply forgive and move on.10) A supporter of charitable activity, which was motivated by his parents and spurred by the same young lad in the wheelchair who launched him to fame. "Live and let live," he says. He is especially dedicated to generating finances and increasing awareness for Malaysia's disabled and impoverished children, as well as his ongoing support for Malaysia's Veteran Creative Artists.11) Back in 2012, his disciplined life allowed him to perform three long nights of sold-out gigs at Istana Budaya.‘Journey through the Song’ was a two-and-a-half-hour concert in which he dressed exactly as he had four decades previously. That event collected funds for the organisation, which seeks to support the welfare of fellow musicians in need. The Yayasan Kebajikan Artis Tanahair foundation, founded in 2012 and later renamed, takes after the welfare of old and ailing performers.

I remember my late dad had DJ Dave's first catridge ( before cassete was introduced) in his car. Back in the 70s, able to play music (in catridges) in your car was a privilege. Even now, listening to 70s songs, could really take you back in time with the same vibes and goosebumps.. DJ Dave, Sh.Aini, Uji Rashid's songs really had their own speelbound to our ears

12-01) So far, he has arranged for 1200 artists with financial issues to get government housing, as well as monthly pensions for numerous older artists. Dave comes to the rescue anytime someone is unwell and needs help. He is always eager to pay visits to sick individuals and urge them to recover. 12-02) He picked up Ben Nathen (the legendary 1980s singer) from the street in 2017, who had been homeless for over 20 years and was heartbroken after his sweetheart had abandoned him. Dave and his foundation paid for his hospitalisation, supplied him with a place to stay, and paid him a monthly allowance to cover his expenditures. He was able to record a new song after his recuperation. 13) He has always desired to establish a name for himself in the sport of badminton, aside from business. He is fit and trim, and he cherishes his health. Every morning, he begins his day with 10 minutes of breathing and voice training followed by 15 minutes of push-ups, sit-ups, and squats. He has played badminton for 20 years. His initial love was football, but a fractured nose caused him to switch to badminton. 14) Dave is still representing Malaysia in senior international badminton competitions across the world, including the World Morning Cup Badminton Championship in Taipei, Taiwan, the BWF Senior Masters Championship in Poland, and the 2022 All England. He has won a number of international singles and double titles in the senior category, and he is now aiming for gold in the following competitions in Taiwan in April 2023. 15) He is also a great businessman, which is yet another amazing attribute he has. He is the Director of Renewables Plus Sdn Bhd (RPSB) from 2010 to the present; the President of National Artist Foundation Malaysia (YKAT) from June 2012 to the present; the President of Malaysia Masters Badminton Association (MMBA) from 2019 to the present; and the Director of Koperasi Amanah Pelaburun Berhad from 2019 to the present (KAPB), the board of director of Awsom TV from 2021 to the present. chairman of summer field elderly care from 2022 to the present 15-01) He never gives up and is steadfast in his pursuit of the goals he sets for himself. 16) A true patriot, he recently composed, sang, and coordinated a beautiful national anthem with Tuanku Agong as patron, as well as 13 other outstanding vocalists from across the country. 17) Like everyone else, he faces many hardships in life, but he never compromises his beliefs. He is often reminded of a profound remark delivered to him by his father. Dave, either do good or walk away," said his father. 18) Dave sings a message that he has lived by and believes in for all of us: "As an entertainer and artist, not only do we entertain and foster love and unity among the people, we should also love ourselves and stay happy and not be stressed out. By passing on positive vibes to others, you will notice a large change in yourself and those around you. When we’re happy, people around us will also get the good vibes from us." kau bahgia ku bahgia biar hidup hidup lagi Now that we've reached the end, I hope the glimpses of his life, his perseverance, and daring to succeed has encouraged us all, to keep trying and never give up, since every day is a new day with new possibilities to pursue. Thank you.
