DJ Accessories - Why You Need Short XLR Cables and a Good DJ Backpack ///// When considering which gear DJs need to become a DJ, we often get fixated on shiny controllers and bass booming subwoofers. What gets overlooked are the simple essentials, like multiple lengths of audio and power cables, cases and much more.
In this video, I’ll talk about some of the best equipment for DJs and what you should have in your DJ kits right now.

What other accessories need to be added to this list? There definitely is much more and I plan on doing another video talking about additions. Let me know what you think and if I use your suggestion, I'll definitely shout you out in the next video!

As a recording engineer and live sound engineer, I have XLR cables in 10 colours. 5 x 10 meter, 2 x 5 meter 2 x 2 meter and 2 half meter lengths. They have served all my needs for over 30 years. Plus various short XLR to Jack flyleads and other adapters. The long cables I store and transport in a large plastic crate with wheels, actually intended for a bunch of power tools, and the short cables are in a large sports bag, again with wheels at one end.

I have that same Furman strip! Good idea about the multi-plug strip, I have one and never tried using it!

Great video. I would also recommend Velcro Strips and Gravity Clips to clean up your cable management.

Better to use releasable cable ties instead of velcro. They will keep the wound loops of cable the same circumference, whereas with velcro, the loops can slip around and form large unwieldy loops and tight loops that can then get tangled up with other loops of cable.

Not to hate but the 1/4” to 1/8” you should is a mono cable. It will not carry stereo sound and will not sound right coming out of the speakers! Just FYI

Thanks for the clarification ... I probably should have been specific on the cable type and not just the size.

Turn arounds are great, I have them in my bag that I use when I work in tv news. At this shoot I was glad I had one for the audio feed. kzread.info/dash/bejne/jJegqtZsmLuafs4.html
