DIY Wheelbarrow Handles

Ever get started on a project, only to be derailed by broken equipment? Got about 3 or 4 wheelbarrows full into spreading our new rock when our old wheelbarrow handles just gave out on us. Rather than scrap the whole thing, I decided to just make some new handles out of a spare 2x4! Let's see if we can make this work!

Good job. Rounding up the handle for easy grip is necessary.

So does Pam! We're glad we held on to a few things, and the price is worth it in the grand scheme of things, but it's time we came up with a new solution.

Awesome video! Way to replace the handles on the wheelbarrow!! SO many people would ditch the entire thing and buy new which is SO inefficient......very happy to see you doing this! Anyhow, can't wait to see the future build of the garage! Keep up the good work!! Cheers!

The "old" me probably would have tossed it, but I'm trying to change my mindset out here. It feels good to fix something rather than buy it, and it's always nice to save money, too!

You probably should seal those new handles. You can whittle the ends down some with a decent knife and probably use good ol duct tape to make em softer on ur hands. Keep up the good work

Good ideas! So far, it's enough just having some decent gloves, but the job does feel sort of "unfinished." I think I'll take your advice.

Thanks, guys. Probably asked myself "what would Jim do?" there! The water leaks have really been kicking our butt (third one in about 2 weeks!), but we'll beat it! Definitely makes us want to get to our own rain catchment solution, though. Not that there won't be any issues, but feel like we'd have more understanding and control, rather than just inheriting problems we don't have information about.

Good idea! I actually have a fold-down workbench in storage that I built and had attached to the garage wall in our old house. Maybe I can add a "back" onto it and get it out here. It's added to the list!

Yeah, we're taking care of the water leaks as they come, but it's discouraging how often they're popping up. We'll be spreading rock for a while, but so far we've made a nice path from the trailer to the shed, and I've covered the floor of our garage-in-a-box (future video!). You missed all the fun!

Murphy's law right? Great job on the handles, maybe take a grinder to the end and round them up a bit. Sucks on the water line.

You're right. It's not really too big of a deal when you're using it with gloves. I made sure to sand the corners of the wood a bit so it wouldn't be sharp. If I had a router or something, I would round those edges off a bunch, but I don't have one. 🤷‍♂️

@@MidlifePrices Mmmmnnn ok, in that case you could use first a knife and then a sandpaper but with care trying to keep the Round shape. Wow man i could see you live like in a desert, how do you do to drink water?

We have a well and also plan on catching water off of each roof we build.
