That is an awesome build! I'm currently finishing up my overland build on a Ford Expedition. I'll be full-timing it on the trails so a clever rooftop tent design was key. I just wasn't happy with what's available with the wedge tents, so I also designed my own. I haven't executed the build yet, and it will be Summer 2021 before I get to build it. In the meantime, I have a sleeping platform in the rear passenger/cargo area with a slide-out kitchen that I built myself. I am finally ready to start editing the entire build footage and will start getting some videos out in the near future. I transformed my "grocery getter" into a very capable overlanding rig.

I am building a similar camper. Totally inspired by yours. Just bought an 09 trd sport (also green). My plan is to do full thin wall steel frame including the tent frame. Can those latches be opened and closed from the inside, and are they locked from the outside when you close them from the inside?

If there is a couple of things I admire about people, it is that they are unafraid to tackle what can seem intimidating projects and also for sharing their hard work and innovation. I haven't read the comments btl, but no doubt someone has suggested manufacturing, marketing and selling this design yourself..? So I won't bother, lol. What you have achieved is truly remarkable. For less than half the price of stock products and self-built in a fifth of the time. And of course, the satisfaction of having made this yourself. Bravo mate, bravo ! (subbed based on your humility, informative without patronising approach and selflessness sharing your extremely hard work for free)

Killer design, I love the balance of thrift and style and hardcore engineering. I hope to extend this build style into a four wheel camper clone using 80/20. This video is great inspiration. I’m a big fan of the idea that if you have built it, you’re in a good position to maintain it long term. It’s great to not be at the mercy of a manufacturer.

Great video! Excellent narration! I have watched your other videos using camper and what makes it so cool is how you customized it to what you wanted. Plus you gained the added knowledge of being able to fix it yourself if something breaks because you built it! Your video is an excellent walk through on how and why you made certain modifications. Can't ask for anything else! Thanks for sharing and taking the time to make and edit the video! Rick From Virginia

You have singlehandedly, by designing and constructing your own custom camper which meets or exceeds the standards of commercially manufactured units, laid bare the exorbitant overpricing of these types of campers! By any metric yours is a meticulously precise and superbly detailed camper constructed to a very high standard using quality materials. Your camper has the appearance of being a very high end camper from a custom designer and fabricator - Which is exactly what it is! By designing and fabricating your camper and making available the necessary technical information to enable others to construct their own without spending excessive amounts to source the correct materials, you have made a huge contribution to the Make Your Own Gear (MYOG) knowledge base! Innovators like you inspire others to try to do things for themselves which they'd previously considered to be beyond their abilities! Not only will they build themselves a superb custom camper, they'll also develop the knowledge, confidence and pride at having hugely expanded their capabilities to carry out future projects which they'd never before considered possible! And in doing so they'll save themselves and their families considerable amounts of money! Thank you for your immense contribution to truck camper ownership.

When i was your age I also had a old landrover series 3 which I did a lot of camping in and made a shower that used a compressor and I thought you would like. All I did was make a steel tank with a filler hole and plug and a quick release air adaptor to it and a quick release outlet for the shower. All you need to do is clip a shower set up to the side of your truck and clip it onto the tank. Clip on the air hose and make a small fire around the tank. It heats the water and is pressurized by the compressor. You have a shower like you are at home. It depends on you how much water it holds and you can fill it from a river or from water you bring with you. I Enjoy your videos and keep it up. Well done.
