Does your car start if the battery in the key fob dies

Of all the things in this vehicle that are well designed and intuitive (imo)... accessing the key fob battery is on the bottom of that list. Thanks!

That may be true but I left the remove in the washing twice and after drying it and changed the battery, it still works well 😊

Much appreciated! Nicely done. While I was changing the battery, the little black plastic piece at the top of the key that you slide to open the battery, popped out and for a few minutes, I thought I had broken the expensive key. Later I figured out that you can actually pop back that little piece. Phew! Thanks again for this helpful video.

That’s super useful. As the key fob doesn’t actually come apart the way it says in the manual ( the slider slides the other way) and a previous service had replaced the top and bottom covers the wrong way round. I could not work out how to get the key open. Until this video! It’s easy when you know how.

Thanks! I found out that it is possible to drop your keys “just so” and have the battery pop loose when the remote is fully assembled. So if your remote stopped working after a drop I suggest checking that first.

Very detailed review thank you that helped me as i couldnt get the top to release but watching your video showed me its a very slight movement of the top and back to get them off while sliding the tabs. Cheers!

Very good instructions. My only problem was I broke the tiny plastic tabs that hold the battery in place. Much trepidation in getting the cover on the battery compartment on with contacts in proper place. Maybe I’ll sell the car before I have to change the battery again.

is there any way to get to the circuitry in order to clean it? I keep having to replace batteries. Just replaced the batteries and one is already not working after 10 days. The battery is down to 3.07v but it should still work.

Thank you for this. However all should be aware that the two black tabs between the two small metal contacts are fragile. Mine are broken and contact is no longer made and the remote doesn't work. This just happened so if you have any suggestions please post. Gene

Try to do this in the dark - without screwdrivers at hand. This is bonkers.
