I won’t give stuff to goodwill anymore. Take to Salvation Army. Goodwill does offer good jobs but their CEO is making way too much money for a nonprofit

Thrift store prices are off the chain...many people are shopping thrift stores, garage sales , estate sales, as a business to resale- using social media- to advertise their finds showing what they paid, the value ,and the profit from resale* I believe that's what changing the thrift store prices. I love when thrift store shoppers like you and myself show DIY projects from thrift store finds! It's really heartbreaking how the thrift stores have changed their prices-making it unreachable for some people that may be in need.

I agree with thrift stores having higher prices than they should. I can often find them new as cheap or cheaper when I hit the clearance section.

Thrift stores prices are ridiculous and yes, they got these items for free! It’s not so much fun anymore but sometimes you can an item or two, that not ridiculously priced! Great video!

I agree about the crazy prices at the thrift store - one pack of candles was actually marked $1 higher than the new price which was still attached! And they stood firm!

I just watched Jason on the "fading away" video. I know you have comments turned off but really wanted to respond to this touching and hard to watch video. My husband died a year ago this month. He endured over a decades battle with dementia. Just a few months before he died we saw an elder care attorney to review some paperwork and she asked him about his two adult children. He replied that his kids had "given up on him." She and I were shocked at his knowledge and insight about a very real situation. At that point my husband was in the late stage of dementia and I had no idea that he still had the cognitive capacity to process this. Jason is clearly aware of this happening to him and my heart is breaking for both of you. I have watched you for years and want you to know that you are a great caregiver. My Alan and your Jason pre dementia were good men and even with behavior changes from dementia have held on the best they can to their humanity.

The little playhouse is super cute. Those little chairs look like they can fit inside, too. My kids were so rowdy the first things they would have done is stand on them and fall off the porch. 😅

Yes prices have gotten higher. What is occuring is they are checking them for pricing on places like eBay. Then pricing items based on what they sold for on eBay.

You sound like me. I say that when I go to thrift stores. I always tell my husband the same things. They get this stuff for free. Where we used to live I had a favorite thrift store. And next door they would put the higher end or the antiques. Which were things I played with or my kids did. But I used to get some great things at both those stores. But that was five years ago. And prices were better then. Your porch looks so cute. I love the color the candle stands turned out. My husband and his dad while he was still alive built a place house for our granddaughter. She loved it. And played in it for a long time. Until it got full of spiders. Then she wasn’t too thrilled. Hers had windows in the windows. But it didn’t have a doorbell. That’s fancy. And her’s didn’t have a deck out front.

My thrift store here in California is almost like shopping retail!!! I leave most on the shelves. It has taken all the fun out of thrifting. And I say the same thing... someone gave this to you for free!!!!! Although the wood pillars were a total score for all three. I would drill a small hole in the top and place one of those small flags that come 3 in a pack.. like 2x3 inches. The little playhouse turned out adorable!!! That brick surround is everything!!! Great ideas, Leslie! I agree about the thrift store prices- I’ve actually asked if an item could be reduced if I really liked it and thought it was overpriced. The manager agreed and reduced it by half.

Oh wow...l tea stained a bunch of Americana decor a few years ago. Most of mine stained a lot darker than yours, which l liked. I think l used some plain, ol, Lipton family size tea bags. I appreciate your talking about respect for our flag and yes banners are free game for crafting. I gave up on the thrift stores around me because I find things cheaper new at the regular stores or FB marketplace.

Thrift shop prices are becoming high here in Australia too. Sometimes you can get them same price in KMart or Target. As you say they are donated!!!!

The floor you both did for the ply house is adorable! The prices at the thrift stores are ridiculous! And I asked the employees if they had gotten raises and they all said no that’s what up sets me the most. The Goodwills in my area have also stopped doing the colored tickets half off days also so I’ve stopped shopping at Goodwills. I’ve just stayed with garage sales and the other thrift stores. absolutely, adorable all of it. I do agree about thrift stores these days. I went to look for my g-sons some shorts and I can get new ones at a department store for a few $ more. I do love the candlesticks u redid with "oven off" a great idea. Love the front porch.

This was the first video of yours I've watched. I loved how the ladder draped with the banner turned out. The grapevine was the perfect finish to it! Also using easy off on the wood pieces was genius! I've never seen that done before.

It is getting so that I would rather pay a few dollars more for new! I used to get great deals on kids clothes at thrift stores. Now I can buy a new toddler shirt for a dollar more at some big box stores. I do have one favorite local thrift store that runs weekly sales on different items including furniture. I watch their FB page for sale announcements.

Everything looks great! like the woods with the USA decor. Using fabric ties on the wooden candles was perfect. i loved my playhouse growing up--made from an old dog house (big dog). Yours is very cute! I've seen dollar tree items for $3.99 at Goodwill--no rhyme or reason--just too much. One Goodwill here won't even take the Goodwill discount card. I like local, smaller thrift stores or the Habitat Restore that gives back to the community.

I agree about thrift store prices! I recently picked up a bowl that still had the $5 price tag from Dollar General and Goodwill had it marked at $8.99. Prices are bad enough but charging more for an item than it originally cost is absolutely ridiculous.

Hi Leslie, just want to tell you how much impact you and Jason are continuing to make, and in your own way. I have super respect and love for you both. I am not good at decorating but I still try a little. More importantly, I am WAY too overwhelmed as caregiver to my darling husband ... anyway, around 7:44 in Jason's latest video, I thought ... how strong and compassionate of him to show appreciation and concern for us (caregivers ... and the ones we care for). Typical Jason. He's there. I know all too well how all the 'things' overtake and complicate and change the person, the life, the family. Keep on and know you're never truly alone in this. Much appreciation for you both. Recently, it was odd, endearing, and kind of weird to hear my husband say, 'i don't like to see the person who takes care of me sleeping on the couch'. There are so many things that we all go through that are unknown by anyone else, or even if they are known and even if lots of folks have great ideas, without knowing ALL the details, and without LIVING the life or the caregiver life day in and day out, the various transitions could sure look weird or be hard to understand for the average person. But, we are all in this together and doing our best and I am sending much love to you all. A few months ago, my husband walked behind me and asked, 'is that the guy that had a brain injury' ... so we are all fading and feeling it, but we are also seen. We see you guys! AND, your decorating is awesome. I have to skim some videos, but I just realized that the welcome mat at 15:31 is the same one that i have!
