    Hi Joe, you should look into using an ATS (automatic transfer switch) for switching seamless between two power inputs. Input A could be your UPS output and input B could be your regular mains. Output could be your refrigirator or anything the ATS can handle. Once your primary input shuts down, the unit provides power from the other one and the switch between them is seamless. We use this in our datacenter to switch power to a rack in case of failure of one of the sources. APC has a model AP4452 or you can find these second hand for sure. Thank you for making these video’s, also enjoy the live events!

    Yes that will be in the near future! I have a ATS that Diy Tech and Repairs is using, I just need the time to hook it up. That translates to when we are not as busy at work and Im not worn out lol! Ill keep an eye out for the APC one for sure Thanks!👍

    AveRage Joe I thought you looked a bit military. Yea I hàd to drive from Boise to Ohio somewhere. Then back to home in NC just made the drive there kinda slow working in Lowes stores a week at a go on the way out. But HAD to stop in Virginia on the way home. After a rush. Nonstop drive to Ohio to fix someone's screw up. when the big guys at Lowes get pissed. Someone is gonna fix the screw up. Anyway. I know how the guy feels I just lost my dad a couple weeks ago. Man is it really rough! I dig the bio hazard stickers. Made me think of the fake 18650's the. buy-A-Hazard lithium. Fire starters! My zanflare charger will charge 1amp but not when testing. And only discharged at 1/2amp or less. 300ma! Charges at 300 500 700& 1000 ma. Keep at it. And hey you know of a source of solar panels ? I found a place that had used panels. For $.40 a watt. But can't remember the name of the place. They had warehouses all over , central america Cali Florida and some where in North East. . but that was a great deal if shipping wasn't crazy. I been wondering about the littlekayla chargers.

    Entertaining and informative as ever! oh, tip for the awesomest 18650 charger - attach a ribbon to one end to run behind the cells, (or a ribbon per cell or group of cells). One pull, and they'll all pop out, no prising!

  • @AveRage_Joe

    @AveRage_Joe

    Thank You!!!! Oh and why didnt I think of that???? I use to do that with remotes and old toys ect lol. Great TIP!!!😱👍👍👍

  • @ahaveland

    @ahaveland

    6 жыл бұрын

    I found you need more ribbon than you think, as it concertinas up.... and if you want to take out a middle cell you still have to prise it out. However, if they're all ready to come out at once then it's easy - just lay arm over the top and pull the ribbon. Another method would be to make little ribbon 'cozies' for them with a tab to grab, or even glue a tab to the cell itself but that could end up taking more time.

    Im kinda wondering the same cause it only said that it discharged at .5a under the other test so its possible that it does under nortest. I think ill put an amp meter inbetween the terminals and a cell and find out what it does. What do you think?🔧🔨🔋🔎💥🤣

    Definitely try it if you can. See if it does in fact discharge at 1A. Make a video out of it if possible :) I test all my cells at 500 mAh. I know it takes longer but I plan to use my 14S100P with low usage so I won't be draining the cells too quickly. I also like the more mAh i get when testing at 500 mAh when compared to 1000 mAh :)

    Hello Joe and Joe's Subscribers. I have a question. Suppose I have a 4s15p battery (60 cells) which has a capacity of 27 amp hours. If this battery is powering a 30 amp load, is that spread across all of the batteries...i.e. 30/60 = 0.5 amps each? OR is it divided by 15...i.e. 30/15 = 2 amps each? My thinking is that it's how EACH cell responds to a load. Therefore, each cell is providing 1/2 amp of current in this scenario. What say y'all?

  • @AveRage_Joe

    @AveRage_Joe

    Hi Joe! I have a few questions, maybe you or someone else can help me out. I have az APC 1500VA UPS rack version, similar to yours. I want to make a 24V battery pack for it from 18650s, but I want to charge it with the UPS (dont have solar yet). What is the best way to do this? With a 24V BMS? Should the battery pack be 6S or 7S? Thanks for any help

  • @AveRage_Joe

    @AveRage_Joe

    6 жыл бұрын

    Well of course Im suppose to say you shouldnt charge the pack like that but I would be lying if I said I havent done it. I did a 24v one of the smaller ones on my ch and it worked great. I didnt have a bms on it since I was just testing it out. I do plan on redoing the battery pack on it when I get time and Ill add a cheap bms to it as well. I did 7s on mine since the voltage range worked a little better. It didnt fully charge it or completely drain the cells which was the reason I tried it that way. Do you plan to use solar in the future and just want to get it up and running or no solar at all?

  • @franky4fing3rs

    @franky4fing3rs

    6 жыл бұрын

    AveRage Joe Thanks for the answer! :) Solar is in my future plans but its all money dependent. You know what I mean (and thats why you are one of my favorite youtuber) For now I want a to secure my central heating pump if the power goes out (which became frequent recently). It only consumes 40-70W, so the 200ish 18650s I collected so far will probably be enough. Trying to make it as cheap as possible :D. On some videos I have seen, that voltages on these apc units can be configured,maybe I can use that to to make charging safer when my cable arrives to connect it with my pc. Also found some 30A BMS on Aliexpress for 20 bucks I could use... Thanks again for the answer and for the videos. Can't wait for the next one. I am a big fan of yours!

    Thank You for the feedback!!! Was it all or just at certain times? So I can go and look in the editing software to see what I had it set at. 😃👍

    AveRage Joe During the whole video if I recall. But it’s funny because that was the first video I’ve watched from your channel, and I haven’t felt the same with the others I have watched. Again, great work on the editing, congrats, you put a lot of work on them. Did you already have any experience on editing video?

    Lol thanks! I was lmao as well. It was not planned when I was recording the video, idea came while editing it lol. Oh and in the other comment, No video editing experience prior to the powerwall videos. It just kinda developed into what you see lol. I appreciate the compliment, I do put an extream amount of work (probly to much at times)into the videos and try to cut out any pauses in talking ect and make it flow lol. Anyways thanks for the feedback, its always welcomed!!!😃🖒
