Just getting into resin work and this is one of the most beautiful I've seen. Can I ask how you clean up the resin from your measuring cups etc once you're done? Thanks!
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO

I wipe them out with a dry paper towel and then use a baby wipe to get any residue off the cup 😀
Hi, what you do is great ! If I make/create a plate that I don't like, can I modify it ?How can I modify a resin plate ? = put it in the microwave to melt it? In hot water? Or with a paint stripper? Thank you so much.
Oh my gosh I LOVE this!! I was wondering since you do 2 layers, do you divide the 13 oz in half for the top and bottom layer and then divide the 6.5 oz up to mix all of the colors? Thanx sooooo much!
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO
3 жыл бұрын
Yes!! It takes about 13 ounces total
Kathy, this tray turned out gorgeous. I've been watching lots of videos and I am wondering why not just put a heavy first coat of clear resin down and then just put the colored resin and glitters down once in the second coat. It just seems to me that a lot of the work gets covered with a second coat of the colors. I haven't done my first pour yet, but I keep wondering about this. Thanks so much.
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO

Hi Barbara and thank you! For this piece, I wasn't planning on a second layer. But I prefer it to the first layer. I wasn't happy with that one, and that's why I added it. A lot of the work can get covered, but not if you use a lot of clear resin and control it well. I did a giant flower with a mold and the 1st layer or two is just a solid color to build up a nice base. The deeper the mold, you really should fill it up with resin, or your finished piece might be too flimsy. So many times with molds this large, multiple layers are necessary. I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching 💗
Thank you for sharing this!!! it looks amazing :) did you wait for the resin to get thicker? mine always tend to bleed between colours :(
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO

Hi! Thank you for watching!! Yes I do wait, I also try a few other things... here is a video of some more tips of how I keep colors separate =) kzread.info/dash/bejne/aYKhw5l_nc_HmdY.html
How long did you wait before the two layers? I love the green!
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO

Thank you!! Just wait until that first layer is stiff to the touch and not moving 😍
Beautiful piece. Did you spray any “Mold Release” product before you began? TIA
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO
7 ай бұрын
I did not, it’s a shallow enough mold, no mold release is necessary. Just make sure the resin has cured before removal

These colors 😍😍😍 I just made a tray. It’s been about 24 hours and it seems a little ‘bendy’ but feels try on the surface. Is it okay to demold or should I leave it?
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO

Hi! I responded yesterday but for some reason it didn't post!! With deeper, larger pieces I do demold after 24 hours, but allow it to sit on a flat surface for another week to harden up

can you use a blow dryer rather than a heat gun or torch?

Blow dryers won't get hot enough to pop the bubbles and they will blow the work around so hard that you will look your compostition.

Hi : Stunning tray .quick question concerning the gold marker contouring the tray . Is that a permanent marker ? Is it better then using the mica powder , easier to unmould . Do you have a beginner video where you show what we need to buy to start making the trays ? Thank you ☀️

@@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO Good Morning: I’m interested in starting to make trays & coasters . I just don’t know where to start 🙈 A real beginner & I love your work .
How do you know how much resin/epoxy to use and how much of the colors and glitter to put into the resin...what should the consistency be like?...Thank you!
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Cindy!! And thank you for your patronage!! I pretty much eye ball it. But I try to keep the pigments under a 10% to resin consistnecy. You don't need a lot of pigment. The more you add, the more your resin will thicken up and become sludgy. Now, I do like that sometimes for my glitter as I want it to stay in place more. So the glitter I tend to add more than that 10% ratio. I hope that helps and makes sense!!

@@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO Thank you...that does help but how do you know how much total resin to use for the tray...do you eyeball that two or do you calculate ounces somehow.?...
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO
3 жыл бұрын
@@cnbowles1 This mold takes about 12.5-13ounces. I know that a flat, 12x12 board takes 5 oz of resin. I double that for a mold and then if the mold is larger than that 12x12 size, I add ounces on for that. I try to share how much I use for each mold. I have added this info to the description of this mold in my store, thank you, Cindy!!!

How long dies it take before the epoxy is totally cured where it doesn’t bend?
@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO
3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the resin you use. I used TotalBoat and demolded this after a day and a half. I then still let it lay flat for 2 more days. Resin is typically hard to the touch after 24, but still cures for a few more days, even weeks
Greens and golds are all my favs! When I got into resin this is exactly what I had in mind. This is perfect! I would have kept it also!!
