    hi Doug and thanks for your clear demonstration on installing solar panels. I am considering installing on my new A.D.U. that I am building as i speak and this addition will connect to my existing home that will be a total of 2000 square feet floor plan. I believe I will need about a 4k system? my idea is to install the roof Jack's first then after I complete the solar system after i complete the A.D.U. project that may take a year being that i am building it on the weekends. I am a building contractor and this is my own home. my question is, can I purchase the tracking system first so that I can incorporate them while I am installing my asphalt shingles.?

    3' from ridge & 3' from rake (left & right); what about the bottom - is it also 3'? I'd like to get 3 or 4 rows of panels to go across. Also, if I install these on a detached garage to the rear of the home (100' away), how do we run the wire (and what gauge) to the control box & disconnect - do we lose energy as it has to travel that 100'? Would it be better to put battery storage in the garage and store the energy there to optimize collection?

    Hi, you always start your first measurement 3ft down from the eave. In my installation, it seems to make more sense to start with the bottom row of panels. Is it okay to work from this direction? Are the required easements from the bottom edge the same as from the eave? Thanks.

  • @Solarwholesaleutah

    @Solarwholesaleutah

    Hey Nic, there's no exact way to measure it out. You just need to be sure you're not encroaching on any fire code setbacks. Some jurisdictions have eave setbacks but most do not require any.

    You say don't let wires sit on roof yet you show the main wire from the microinverters entering into the roof junction box resting on the roof. I assume this is an oversight?

    When you are done wiring the roof junction box you would pull it right and zip tie it so it’s not resting on the roof like it is in their video

  • @chriszzz6672
    @chriszzz66722 жыл бұрын

    No connections to the main wiring harness or the micro-inverters were made. This is a major omission. This is a DIY project that can be done easily with two people, and much of it can be done by one person. You will learn as you go, and the second time through would be much easier than the first. A video that shows common first-timer mistakes and how to avoid them would be great. Also, keeping the rails straight (you roof probably is not perfectly straight) matters. Then leveling each row of rails with the ones above and below will make the whole array flat. There is more to the installation process than what this video shows, but it is useful for the package that Solar Wholesale sends you. There should be a video just for the unpacking and counting of what was sent. If you are careless and don't follow the instructions on the box, you can damage the panels if they are allowed to fall while removing them.
