Yeah, sometimes it takes a second to understand which cut is being made in a woodworking video. It’s not a huge deal, but for a visual person the context does help put the pieces together.

Ben uyeda, modern builds, four eyes, and michael alms videos are soooo satisfying.

Well this looks fun. I do need something more fluffy for couch cushions, but this works well for my teenager. Good project and thanks for sharing.

Also bamboo edges are tight!

It really is!

The bamboo ply is great material. I made a platform bed, nightstands and built-in cabinets using bamboo plywood (and baltic birch for the hidden surfaces and drawer boxes. The edges have great detail for no extra work.

Love the sofa, did you have any problems cutting the bamboo ply? Did the edges fray and how did they look? What type of saw blade did you use? Sorry for all the questions, at over $275 a sheet I want to make sure the cut edges are clean without chips, etc.

Nice. Cushion site has some dead links btw but I’ll def order from it for my vintage Motorhome remodel

Its crazy how the fastest growing "tree" is more expensive than ones that take 100 years to grow.

This is a LOT nicer than Modern Builds' cargo crate of a sofa.

How well would these cushions stand up outside, like for your exterior couch design?

Would those sofa cushions not slide around quite a bit on that bamboo frame. Maybe some ties on the back to attach to the backboard?

Wouldn't some velcro strips reduce the possibility of the cushions sliding?

Any chance y’all plan on releasing a chair cushion on the site? I’m wanting to build some MCM chairs and wanting to avoid getting out my wife’s sewing machine to make some cushions.

I'm well on this DIY couch train. I just worry about the cushions slipping. Probably okay for adults, but i've got 4 grommets that do somersaults and flips on the couch, or watch movies upside hanging off the edges. Any thoughts on how to secure the cushions? a small cleat at the front? ties? velcro? Or maybe this just isn't the design for me. Love the work man, thanks for the vids.

Wouldn't the cushions just slide off the sofa as you lean back? I guess you could put in some front strips to stop this from happening, or something the connects to the bottom of the cushion without sacrificing comfort.

How about cushions made out of Hemp canvas

cushions are the difficult part, indeed. Me and my wife made our own sofa. My design, my woodworking. she made the cushions. It cost about $250 for decent quality material (stuffing, batting, fabric, ect).wood was probably $150. redesigned/fixed things 3 times to get right. Took probably a combined 40hrs of work. Not an easy task to make something that's comfortable, good quality, and good looking.

How much are you paying for each sheet of bamboo plywood? I'm seeing over $200 / 3/4" panel, does that sounds right? The edges are very interesting. Much more of a high end look than normal plywood. It's beautiful wood, but woof, that price. All in with the cushions you are about $700 on materials, right?

more expensive but varies dependingon how many sheets you buy. I have paid between $140-$220. that's a lot but with sanded pine plywood at $64 a sheet it doesn't seem as bad to me.

I called them: they said ~$275/sheet + shipping. The 1/2” was a little bit cheaper.

the 2x4s you used under the plywood doing the rip cut costs more than the plywood itself.

I don't like ties for indoor cushions and in my experience the cushions stay in place just fine
