    The great thing about this solution, is when you have to move something, you don't have to spend 10 minutes undoing all the Velcro loops or peeling back tons of plastic tabs or cutting a ton of plastic zippy-ties. A lot of solutions have the problem of when you have to modify it later. Thanks for a cool solution.

    A tip for those that have ever tried mounting surge protectors. Take a piece of tape take one large strip hole to hole. Poke out the holes in the tape with it mounted on the surge protector and then like magic you have exact cutout hole length without having to worry about all the measuring. This isn't an original idea you can find plenty of videos on this technique. Chris made it look too easy though haha

    Good tips, tanks.One thought, tho: zip ties for cables are not a good solution IMO, since you need to cut them if you want to make adjustments by after. And you eventually throw it away, which is bad for your wallet and for the environment. . Rubber bands can do a good job, or garbage bags ties are also very good, easy to undo and tie again.

  • @duaynedraffen9319

    @duaynedraffen9319

    4 жыл бұрын

    Some zip ties are made to be removable. Still, garbage bag ties are a very good idea; rubber bands, not so much. The rubber breaks down over time, and they either come off or become fused on the cables.

    Could you please suggest a way of mounting the power bar without using screws?I don't want to ruin my desk

  • @petersister
    @petersister3 жыл бұрын

    Love this ingenious solution. A small improvement I could suggest is to use one-wrap velcro tape rather than zip ties. The velcro tape has hooks on one side of the tape and loops on the other, so that when you wrap it, it simply sticks to itself at whatever place it touches itself. This allows you to open and close the band without having to replace the wrapper. It's sold on Amazon under Self-wrap Velcro; its Velcro brand: www.amazon.ca/Velcro-Brand-Fasteners-Double-Sided-Multi-Purpose/dp/B000078CUB Empty toilet paper rolls are also good for holding electrical cords wrapped together; you just wind your cord, then slide the empty toilet paper roll over the unplugged end of the cord and then over the wound cord. Then plug your cord in. If, at some point you require more length to your cord, you can usually sneak the next loop (or more)of cord out of the cardboard roll, without having to unplug the cord.

    Great ideas, my computer desk is a snake pit of wires. For those without electrical tools, there is always the old fashion idea of cutting the pipe with a hand saw. As for the holes you can always use your imagination and perhaps heating up a screwdriver and using it to create screw holes would work. Unless you have an appalling lack of creativity, it shouldn't be too hard to improvise. If you are anywhere near a hardware store or even a wally world, surely you can save up your change for some simple tools. Even a electric drill is relatively cheap and isn't that much of a drain on most people's budgets. Come on people the guy is presenting ideas that most people can do. So easy to be critical, so hard to show appreciation for an idea without complaint. Why is that?
