What is a shallow water anchor?
Why use fiberglass?
- Fiberglass is springy / absorb shocks caused by wake and wind
- Fiberglass resists UV deterioration
- Light weight, easy to use
- Available in several colors
Materials not to use:
- wooden dowel - wood is brittle and deteriorates quickly

Hey there. Anchor was awesome today in a current. Jb weld had a problem on the handle though. Held everywhere else. But so strong. The boat got pushed into the pole by current and the pole held the boat back. I use it with a climbers heavy duty caribeaner, and grappling ring, and used paracord witha basic weave to connect them. Just drop the pile through the ring and we didn't budge.

JB weld failed on mine leaving the 8ft section at the bottom of the lake. Drilled a hole in the couplings of the remaining poles and put in drive rivets works great.

JB weld failed on me too but it was at the handle. Luckily I was able to get the entire pole back.

Threads of 1/4"-20 would allow a camera to mount to the end. Screw the handle on and off.

The slick pole should have been sanded with 80 grit sand paper to allow the jb weld to have tooth to grab . Paint just like jb needs something to make it hold .

Look in the garden section at Walmart for uv rated fiberglass poles, you cut to fit. You can buy their handle or make 1 from a PVC t-joint. All you need from them are the ferrules to make various lengths and a tip if you want one. Use marine epoxy not jb weld.

Oh, PLEASE, have someone who understands editing do a thorough job on this video. You've managed to squeeze a 10 to 12 minute video into almost 50 minutes of thumb twiddling. We do NOT need to watch the entire process to understand how it works. Show how to glue one or two joints, the tip, and the paddle. The directions for mixing JB Weld are right on the package and you don't need to demonstrate that each time, either. Now, please excuse me while I go watch some paint dry.
