  • @speedball_art

    @speedball_art

    3 жыл бұрын

    the recommendation to let dry for 2-3 days is not necessary unless there is a significant amount of ink used in the design. Most our prints dry to the touch within a few hours (waiting overnight to be extra safe) or hitting with a hairdryer to help speed dry time -- all will get you to the heat press or heat setting with an iron within a day at the most! we just like to be extra conservative in recommendations to ensure success for beginner printmakers

  • @speedball_art

    @speedball_art

    2 жыл бұрын

    This kit features a permanent vinyl that is adhered to a screen by way of transfer tape. The image is mirrored at the time of cutting because it will ultimately be flipped to the correct orientation at the time it is mounted to the screen. You can absolutely clean the screen between uses with water and a small amount of mild soap to allow you to print with alternative colors. Additionally, you can remove the vinyl from the screen and utilize alternative designs any time.

  • @speedball_art

    @speedball_art

    2 жыл бұрын

    You can absolutely achieve some fine detail with the vinyl, but there are some differences, most notably that the weeding process on the vinyl for super fine detail can be quite challenging and time consuming. Another option would be our Speed Screens system in that it also allows for great detail, and is a photo emulsion process that doesn't require the mixing, coating and drying steps in creating a screen. If you'd like to review a particular design you have in mind to determine what technique might be most suitable, please contact us at info@speedballart.com so we can discuss in more detail.

    Using adhesive vinyl as a stencil is fantastic. However, having to let the ink air dry for 2-3 days and then heat set for 2-3 minutes? That detail alone changes the calculus a bit: create my designs with heat transfer vinyl or screen print.

  • @speedball_art

    @speedball_art

    3 жыл бұрын

    The recommendation to have the project dry for 2-3 days is fairly conservative. In most cases, it simply needs a few hours to overnight to dry enough to then heat set. The advantage of the screen printed results is beyond the time calculation, as it allows for the fabric's hand to be maintained and the print itself to withstand countless washes without cracking or peeling away. Certainly all up to preference for each project, though!

    Hi, when you print, make sure to press down the screen with the squeegee with some pressure so that the surface being printed on doesn't move around. That should help some of the smudges. Try to run the squeegee only once since going back and forth can create smudges too.

    Hi Kayla, did you ever find a solution? I've tried different vinyls, tapes, made the tape much less sticky to the point it's not sticky at all, but my vinyl refuses to stick to the screen and really insists on sticking to the transfer tape. It seems to only work with extra basic designs based on people's tutorials, but even then wouldn't work for me. Super stressful. Cheers

    @@wagsinho Hey, I would recommend not using a squeegee to adhere the vinyl onto the transfer tape. Instead use your hands and do it really lightly. Otherwise it’ll just stick to the transfer tape. Only use the squeegee to adhere it to the screen. And when you do that use it on both sides.

    Never done vinyl myself. I have donde burning the screen with a film positive. You have your design, you will print it best quality on the printer using a film for screen printing. Once your art/design is on the transparency film, your will burn it. Ways to burn is on the un, or light or UV light. This is a preferred method when using silk. You can print many T-shirt at will.

    if you do not have a vinyl cutter, you can still use the stencil method by cutting out your design into something like our Graphics 360 paper. Alternatively, you can use the screen filler + drawing fluid method or the photo emulsion method to create images. we have instructional videos on each of these options on this channel for reference!
