we used to bleach dye shirts with the "bleach added" dishwasher gel! it'd probably be more similar in consistency to screenprinting ink - we used to use it with foam stamps

what brand did you use if you dont mind me asking.
it's very important to tell people they need to thoroughly rinse and then thoroughly wash the shirt as SOON as the bleach has done its job. Or else the bleach will disintegrate the fabric. I found this out age 14 when my jeans fell to pieces!

Meanwhile I used a pair of ripped Levi's as a rag once in bleach, the piece sat in bleach for a day, didn't even discolor it, color me impressed lol

ill add that you should soak the shirt in vinegar to neutralize the bleach before washing, every second past discoloration that the bleach sits without being CHEMICALLY neutralized the bleach is weakening the fabric and water alone will not wash the bleach out fast enough

Yeah but the holes make them cooler if you're gonna patch them up for punk pants
As a PSA if your are interested in trying this but can't afford/don't want to invest in a machine cutter check if you have a local maker space with one! Sometimes librarys have them and sometimes there are independent ones!

Or you ask a screenprinter to prepare your screen for you. Not all of them do that, but I think the smaller ones will. The one I work at does and we only charge a small amount of money for removing the old pattern, cleaning the screen and preparing the new one. Sorry for not using the technical terms, I only know those in german.
I've done this before with SoftScrub and it worked great! It's the right consistency right out of the bottle. Your prints turned out bee-oo-tee-ful!

My thoughts exactly..
There’s a bleach that’s a gel consistency, it’s blue but it works just like regular bleach , think it’s supposed to be for deep stains or something, there’s also bleach added dishwasher gel.you should totally do a part 2 and try some of the suggestions people left in the comments 👍

When working in tight spaces (too small to fit your squeegee inside the screen), a great (and really cheap) option is to get a set of bondo spreaders from the auto supply store.
I love your channel. I love that you show all the things you try before you find what works.
Closed caption called your dumping stuff in the trash “applause” 👏
Ho man that asmr just in time to chill out to while I get to sleep. Appreciate it!
You got hooked with ALL the Cricut! I’ve been using it for year and don’t even got all that good stuff. Loved the video.
mans hittin is with the scarce level double upload
i love listening to you narrate. you have such a fun personality. stay crafty.
my job is making custom screenprinted banners etc and because we do a lot of one offs we use vinyl for our screens (our biggest screen is like 6ft) so i do this every day! and i do also call it weeding it out
Wow, I didn't think it would work. Thank you.
You can make larger squeegees by cutting up plastic container lids, like your Cool WHHHHHIp or Can't Believe It's Not Butters containers. Ya know, if you wanted :)
Actually there is a screen printing ink called "Discharge" that does the same bleach effect on the shirt

Discharge ink is amazing when used, lasts alot longer than traditional ink and holds alot more detail throughout the life of the garment.
I came here to learn how to screen print and ended up learning how to get up even easier, thank you
Woah, my guy was sponsored by Cricut. Congrats man!

It's Christmas morning for us Shmoxd viewers
sir it’s 2am anyways imma come back in the morning to watch this
What a bad ass intro! I instantly subscribed when I saw that.
Homeboys got a cricut.... Unstoppable.
I did something similar, laser cut freezer paper, ironed my shape onto a shirt then sprayed with a 50/50 bleach and water mix. It worked pretty well but the bleach got under the freezer paper in a few places so I'm still perfecting my technique.

I've been working on bleaching with stencils and was considering trying a laser cutter out. I've also tried mylar sheets which kind of work once you wet the fabric and plastic Mylar sheet which makes it stick/suction to the fabric... doesn't produce very crisp lines compared to other stuff I tried but just throwing it out there
It bugs me a lot that I’ve been watching you for a couple years and you still aren’t at 1 million subscribers yet. I love watching your videos and you have bomb ass tutorials.

Everytime I watch your videos (and they’re endlessly inspiring, by the way) I get hooked on the chill bop for the summer skeleton portion of your intro/outro. I know it’s custom made but is there a full or longer version out there somewhere? Can’t get enough.
LOVE UR CHANNEL SO MUCH!!!
Now I see this video and I found it interesting. I think that instead of applying bleach in a traditional way, it might be more effective with a very fine spray bottle, Like fine bleach vapor... It would help with the homogeneous dispersion of the liquid in more controlled proportions. Another idea would be to use scented bleach that they sell to clean the bathroom. It is already good with a certain consistency and viscosity.
I've never been more impressed with any diy project 👁👄👁
I love the way you create
Heaven sent 🙌🏻
Dooope I love your work and your over all vibe and also your videos. So creative
Oh wow. I LOVE my maker!!!! 😁
Man how do you know ????? I was literally searching "bleached tshirt design" rn 😳😳 Dude how ??
Maybe a sponge or something to apply the bleach through the screen/vinyl? Or spray bottle? Might also work with tie dye ink?
Love it man !! You’re creation are bad ass !
ima try this now!
Your voice makes me wanna sleep
You are so creative!!!
I know how to fix your problem, in graffiti there's a thing called a mop and it's basically just a bingo dabber/dauber. You could use that to dab the bleach onto the screenprint, it's basically just a bottle with a sponge tip
Thanks for the video
Super cool, thanks for sharing
Use a window/glass cleaning squeegee. You can cut it to size too.
Awesome I want to try this !
Woo!!! Two videos!!!!!
Great video :) ty for sharing
Wow great work ✌
Whoooah that was 12 minutes?? So entertaining i didn't even notice the time passing (time goes by fast when you're having fun I guess?) also I gotta say I really appreciated this sponsor like I feel like every time you do a sponsorship where it doesn't have that much to do with the vide it kinda kills the vibe idk? And I find myself just skipping to the rest of the video but it was so nice this time!! Please if you can I would love to see more like non invasive sponsors like this!!! Its like you put it out there so that if someone who is interested in doing the thing can know about it but it doesn't feel like you're shoving it down the viewers throat or like forcing in on us :)) thank you! Love to see this typa stuff, keep it up!

If you're trying to get thick bleach, try soft scrub. There are also bleach pens with gel
Hi, when u were cleaning the screen, mineral water soaked rag works wonders I work at a T-shirt screen printing company lol

Use toilet bowl bleach. Already comes in gel format. You can buy it cheap at the dollar store.
Omg hi!! Love your videos
YOU ARE SO COOL!!!!!!!
Have you tried a metal bench scraper as a squeegee? You can get them on Amazon or any kitchen supplies store or website. They have different handles and come in different shapes and sizes. I have a couple but really love my Williams-Sonoma one because it’s 100% stainless steel and has a comfortable handle. The handle is just the metal of the scraper that is curved over to fit in your hand. I like that shape because it’s easy to grip and hang onto without slipping out of your hand.
cool... cool cool cool ( as always, prrahp!)
Are you able to re use the vinyl again? Like take it off put another design on and and then put the design from before on it again?
Fire!!
Meu sonho uma máquina dessa 😍😍
🤔 very interesting and comes out nice
1am in Colombia and I'm here🌚
Toilet cleaner with bleach is another option and it's kind of thicker consistency.
Yeah i watch for the DIY. But your hands are lovely af!
Does anyone know how to keep an electric burner (hot plate) like the one used in this video, from turning itself off while in use? It seems to be a built-in safety mechanism used to keep it from overheating but it makes it impossible to keep a steady heat when I’m dyeing fabric.
Peeling paint is sooooo satisfying. I always want to do something with it but idunno what.
Have you thought about using the bleach powder that’s used for hair? When you mix it up it has a consistency that could work for screen printing.
You should honestly just use discharge ink. It more or less does the same thing but works a lot better. That ink is usually water based though so it can take a little getting used too.

I've been trying this bleach method out with stencils for a few months now and was really thinking about whether discharge ink vis screen printing would work or not so thanks for commenting this
@comradesym
2 жыл бұрын
It just depends on the experience level of the printer. Printing with water based inks definitely takes some getting used too since there are a lot of factors that contribute to the result and how easy the ink is to use. Discharge inks can dry up a bit faster and need to be mixed with a specific ink and an activating powder with a scale. The results though are definitely pretty awesome.
What is that spray he uses at the begining of the video to clean the screen???? :O i want
Cool
I wonder if you could solve some of the issues with the bleach by mixing it with transparent base
ahaha end of the month and the scheduled sponsor deal crunchtime my dude I think we would understand each other lol.
Not a card bird. Lol. This is really fkn cool.
Can you use jello or shaving cream with bleach.
is the vinyl permanent? im thinking of using vinyl and bleach for a project of 100 shirts but worried if the vinyl will come apart during the process or between washing.
I love cleaning screens at work. I used to use like 4 cans of 957 fast open a day. Lol
ISNT THIS THE SAME AS DISCHARGE WHICH IS LIKE BLEECH B UT FOR SCREEN PRINTING ?
I’m thinking that mixing the bleach with some transparent extender base ink would make the bleach stop from over spilling so much if you don’t have much room at the top of your screen
What spray you use to clean the ink bro???
Question, what type of vinyl are you using here?
Can you use gkuestick?
Two shirt videos in one day? And it's abt bleach dyeing, hell yeah
Would a paint roller work to hold the bleach?
How did you add your hand drawn picture to Design Space?
did your screen take on any damage from using bleach?
Have you ever done a diy on how to soften stuff shirts?
Soft scrub with stencle.
I would love to have a cricket
Is this technique advantageous over simply applying the vinyl on the shirt itself and applying bleach with a spray bottle? That's what I've always done. You'd have to cover and exposed fabric with rags to avoid over-spray marks, but that's easy enough too.
