DIY Router Table Dust Hood / Free Plans

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A few days ago I made some new zero clearance inserts for my bench table saw, and while I was using the router table with a flush trim bit, I realized I needed to make some kind of dust removal system when doing these kinds of milling jobs.

I'm used to larger, corded routers kzread.infoUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.

I’ve been waiting to cut a hole with the exact diameter of a PVC tube and already knew a few ways including how you did it. But it gave me more confidence seeing you make it look easy. I plan on making a plate on both sides to act as more area to reduce leaks and keep my pipe aligned. That means that once I get one circle clean I can use it as a template and not stress it. Thank you.

Pretty slick! I've seen a Woodpecker's version but thought it was too small and too expensive for what you got. This is a similar principle but with the added size/shape to function as a "hood". Thanks for the inspiration, God bless.

Great idea having the hood cover that much area. You might want to add Vertical dado's/channels on the inside of the hood. Then veinier over the inside of the hood leaving about 1/2" or 12mm of the veiiner open on the bottom and make a channel on the top of the hood ()below the plastic about 6" or 15 cm. The channels might just pull the sawdust up that is piling up at the base of the hood.

@@Paoson_Woodworking I sent the comment before I say the 10mm dado's you cut to bend the hood. They are the channels you need to suck up the sawdust. You just need to leave every third or fourth channel open 1/4 to 3/8" or 6 to 12mm at the bottom. At the top, you can leave every other channel open a bit about 6" or 152 mm. The top channels could be about 1/2" or 12mm.

It looks different than any other solution I see back in the days but it don‘t work realy good, in my opinion. 1. not everyone have a dustcollector with a 4 Inch tube. Most Woodworks have a small dustcollector with a tubediameter from 34 to 43 mm. 2. I think, it’s better, the router is much nearer on the workpeace and the dustcollector tube sucks on two places… behind the routerbit an under the table. But the video was nice made … thx for that 👍🏽
