    you may want to think about drilling and tapping a couple of holes on the rotating part, that way you can put zerk fittings in and grease it just in case moisture gets in and tries to rust it together.

    Very nice job on the frame With the wheels make sure you can get at the bearings with some sort of spray lube as the blast media will get in to them we used to go through loads of WD40 after we blasted them with compressed air otherwise they were jammed solid.

    Its great to see how far ahead you are thinking and its funny to watch you trying to catch up with your own thoughts and then having to come back and think about where you are up too. Great viewing and would you believe it, I am actually learning something . (Thumbs up and looking forward to seeing you both on line again)

    Great job, I agree on using the gussets for the uprights, its always better to have a more rigid frame when carrying the car on a trailer, it might snap just above the weld. I made triangular uprights on my frame, they're strong but limit some access to the front and back

    Nicely detailed execution of your rotisserie build. As a matter of safety, I think you should add similar triangular reinforcements on either side of the T-base of your rotisserie as you did below the swivel mechanism. I’m sure Mrs. Jeff will worry less knowing that you’re not any taking any unnecessary risks. Otherwise, another exceptional build video!

    Are you going to add some castors so you can move the whole thing around? Also when you take the body to the sandblasters take all the other suspension parts as well and the you can easily paint them or get them powder coated, might save a lot of time and cost. Rotisserie looking good.

    Top work Jeff. Probably a good idea to drill holes in the inside pipe so the threaded rod penetrates into it locking it solid like an engine stand. The friction fit is a bit sketchy and unless the car is perfectly balanced horizontally and vertically it may break the friction and rotate. Try some decent rotating force on your current setup and see if you can move it.

  • @HomeBuiltByJeff

    I could gusset everything, but this is hugely over engineered as it is. That has the redundancy of both legs and if you noticed I welded the tubes to the ends of the centre piece rather than the face so the torsional force is spread over all of the welds not just concentrated on one ;)

  • @DiscoFang

    @@HomeBuiltByJeff It's over-engineering for static use in the workshop but as soon as you apply the brakes (let alone having to stamp on them) while it's on the trailer the torque on the base of the upright and the crosspiece it's mounted on will be a fair ol' twist. But a plate on either side should be enough.

  • @DiscoFang

    @DiscoFang

    If the shell is 300kg (?) then the torque at the base at 0.5G deceleration is around 1,500Nm.

    @@DiscoFang In Europe we use 0.8 instead of 0.5 for the calculation of load when braking. Sideways and backwards we take 0.5. with loads you can play better on safe side. He can of course simply put his tensioning belts in the right place so that nothing bends.
