DIY PS5 Controller (On BDM-020): Tactile Clicky Hair Triggers | No-Soldering Step by Step Tutorial

Ойын-сауық

Before buying this kit, be aware that haptic feedback should be turned off, it's not recommended for racing games, and it requires opening the controller for installation.
The Tactile Clicky Hair Trigger kit will give you an advantage in fps games. R1, L1, R2, and L2 will have reduced travel time which will help activate your triggers sooner than the original. The tactile version adds keyboard or mouse click sounds to your triggers. its compatible with CFI-ZCT1W/BDM-010 and CFI-ZCT1W A/BDM-020. There are 2 version of the Clicky Hair Triggers, there's the tactile and the standard version. The standard version doesn't have keyboard/mouse click sounds. Other than that it functions the same as the tactile version.

    That's not possible. You can only connect one cable to the trigger board. Which means you wouldn't be able to connect the original and clicky trigger on the same trigger board. However, I haven't done it myself, but you could try to have either the L1/L2 as original and R1/R2 as clicky. Or the other way around.

  • @im.a.caveman

    What suggestions do you have on this kit when they don't click? I built 2 controllers using this same kit and both were the same BDM-020 that you have here. The triggers feel like mush and like they are already pressing the tactile buttons. The only way I get any click on the R2 button is if I pull up on the edge of the button and then push it back down. Thank you.

  • @im.a.caveman

    @im.a.caveman

    I have an idea of what it could be. I just finished installing one and ran into a problem where I clicked it and I had to push the L2 or R2 button up. I might have found out what it is. The black piece that goes in that trigger, if it bends slightly a certain way its probably gonna cause the trigger to not be set up properly. Basically I bend it so that it's going towards the piece that the rod goes into. It's hard to explain. Easier to actually show it. Point is, after doing that the results were amazing. And I did open twice because I wasn't sure what the problem was. So my assumption is that it was what I just explained above. Let me know if this helped.

    It's not since it can't be used. The trigger film and rubber are replaced with switches. Apart from it not being viable with haptic feedback, it's also not recommended to use for racing games. The slow press function doesn't work with this kit installed. It's mainly designed for fps players. With the kit installed the travel distance of the triggers and bumpers are reduced.

    Those work the same way so the choice would be based on preference. The tactile makes clicky sounds and the standard hair triggers doesn't make clicky sounds like the tactile one. I went with the standard hair trigger since I'm not into clickiness. You can also check out the micro switches. Those are the new trigger kits they released a while ago. They have less travel distance compared to the hair triggers. The hair triggers have a travel distance of 3.0mm, while the micro switches have a travel distance of 1.5mm. There is the light version and a strong version. Light version means it's just easier to press compared to the strong version. I have a lot of content to work on and one of them is the strong version of the micro switches. I prefer those over the light version. Don't forget to check for compatibility before buying. Currently there are no kits compatible with BDM-030. Here's a link if you want to check out the micro switches. • @im.a.caveman

    Жыл бұрын

    Sorry, just saw this. Right now I prefer the strong micro switches. The standard hair triggers seem to eventually break down. Could be from drops or pushing it to hard. My friend had his L2 break down and then his R2 later on. I switched his back to original but he'll be using the micro switches next. I tested the strong micro switches for about a day and then put it back in its packaging since I want to do an installation video with it. They seem more durable than the hair triggers. If I remember correctly the travel distance is also less then the hair triggers. If you thought it was quick to press the hair triggers then the micro switches would be quicker. (Just realized I had commented the travel distance difference in a comment above.) They also have nice clicks. I wish they sounded more like the standard hair triggers but the micro switches use omicron switches which are used on computer mouse. Hope this helped!

    It's the trigger system that makes your triggers feel like you're interacting with things in the game. Like applying more pressure to shoot different guns or other things. Since these hair triggers don't use haptic feedback it should be turned off so it doesn't make rattling sounds when haptic feedback is trying to activate if it's on. If it's off haptic feedback won't activate which is a good thing with this kit installed. The hair triggers don't get pushed all the way down that's the reason why haptic feedback can't be used with this kit.
