    Very nice, a professional design EDM generator! Did you stack 2 48V supplies for the 100V=? In old AGie 'BiPuls' a hundered milliamps of 105Vdc was used to ignite the spark ( begin breakdown ) then a different 100V supply was triggered (allowing IsoPuls). So only a tiny generator is needed to begin the spark ( voltage ,atters, not amps!), and (not AGie) then a lower voltage pulse could do the heavy work ( say 48 or 60V, just > than th 28-32V discharge voltage ) . So, a lot of energy need not be dissipated thru bulk resistors ( typicaly 8 ohm, 300Watt). This is very interesting, I will watch for further developements. For experimenters: The .pdsprj file is for Proteus ( an EDA suite that includes circuit simulation from Labcenter Electronics Ltd). ProteusDesignSuite DEMO is available for free from Labcenter and will run on Linux under wine ( no need for wine64,tested with Debian 10). Thanks TomP

    hello, very good video!,one question, the current control unit, is it in charge of monitoring the consumption of the pulses? Due to what I understand about the subject and your design is that you control the pulses with an atmega328 but why the 3 mosfets, to distribute the charges? It could be done with a single mosfet . Or is it done with all three for smaller pulses?

  • @firstmotionlab

    If he distibutes the total-pulse-countr through 3 mosfets, I believe that the burden is smaller for each single mosfet. This way, you can use cheaper mosfets. A cheaper mosfet won´t manage the required frequency, but 3 will, each one of them working at 1/3rd of the demanded frequency.

    hello, i wanted to build something like that. but my mosfets dies everytime. my pwm circuit is 1-150 khz and percentage dutycycle. its output connected to mosfet driver. but it doesn't work. i can't ask the circuit but at least you can post a mosfet protection circuit for this. and why you are use irfp250n its rds/on is high relative to other mosfets? and can we use this circuit for 45 50v? please help and thank you.

  • @firstmotionlab

    @firstmotionlab

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your attention to my project! First of all, you need to find the reason your mosfets dead(gate side, high side, overheat ect.). There are a lot of reasons can be. Maybe irfp 250 is not the best choice but high-current transistors have "heavy" gates and high rds. Nevertheless, for 1-150 kHz irfp250 is acceptable. 45-50V you can use of course and it depends on what kind of EDM you gonna make. Even if you have the correct circuit that is not enough. You need to develop the correct topology of elements.

    @@user-hn4tg2su4d it is although about the shorter rise time you get when connecting outputs in parallel (old trick). You want sharp edges without overshooting on your gate trigger signals. A mosfet driver would be even better. Isolating the powerstage from the controller (optocoupler) I would highly recommend.. free running diodes to catch VCC voltage transients. Hi! Great video, thanks for sharing. If you can, pls explain the LCD information. "Freq" is clear, but not "P" and "Duty". I guess "Duty" is duty cycle, but duty cycle should be in percent, not in seconds, because duty_cycle = (t_on / (t_on + t_off)) * 100%. t_on here is the duration of the period when the output is HIGH, and t_off is the duration of the period when the output is LOW I also have no idea what "P" (also in seconds) means

  • @antonevmenenko7898

    @antonevmenenko7898

    Жыл бұрын

    Ok, I think I got what the "P" is. It's a period in seconds that corresponds to the given frequency, right? But, if so, I think the units are not correct. For example, at 5:20 according to the LCD the frequency is 5kHz. Period that corresponds to this frequency is 200000ns or 200us. The LCD shows 200ns, which is not correct

  • @firstmotionlab

    @firstmotionlab

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your question! P - means pause between the trailing edge of the pulse and the rising edge of the next one. You right usually they use duty cycle as a percent of frerq. But Atmega is slow with float variable and real durations is more comfortable for development.

  • @firstmotionlab

    @firstmotionlab

    Display shows is not calculated value but this value from oscilloscope and include time of rising and falling of mosfet. 5 kHz is 200 us and pulse duration is 1000ns than pause is 199 us display shows 198 becuse depend on type of drivers and MOSFETS. ps/ I paid atantion that display shows 198ns insted 198us but video has osciloscop diagram and we can see that pauses is quite longer that pulses are.
