From my research, you have to be careful to use high rate 18650 batteries for power tools. I think some of those batteries for some uses are low charge/discharge rate. Is that correct?

yes thats correct! I had to learn the hard way with my first battery I used a low discharge rate battery. Now I save the best batteries for my power tool packs and use the rest for other less intense applications

Resell them. Get a 3d printer if you need to to add a special designed case or whatever.

Rebuilding a battery is so much easier than maintaining a gas chain saw!

Iron redux! I've been watching that professor show his progress. Great for home use! Are you going off grid, or grid tie? I keep thinking of ways to use the solar immediately to forgo the battery.

correct! and im already off grid and just looking to add more capacity to my system. You can do lithium storage which will last a night or two for a couple grand from battery hookup but if I can scale up the redox flow system ill be able to have energy storage for weeks for the same amount. Redox flow is about $10-20 a kwh.
