DIY PLANT MOUNTS | How To Mount Ferns, Hoyas, Etc.

Ойын-сауық

In this video I show my method of mounting houseplants that I use at the plant store where I work - Urban Jungle in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Thanks for watching!
Supplies needed:
• Cork bark / rot resistant wood
• Epiphytic houseplant (Hoya, Fern, Epiphyllum, Rhipsalis, Bromeliads...)
• Sphagnum moss
• Preserved sheet moss (optional)
• Fishing line
• Malleable wire (Bonsai or Florists Wire works great)
• Scissors / wire cutters
• Drill / hammer (to create hole for hanging wire)

I really liked your demonstration . It looks pretty simple to do and I like the use of sheet moss to finish it off. I think that will also help hold in moisture as well. I want to mount some bromeliads and ferns on my patio wall to save space and add interest , and this technique will give me some versatility .

Great video! Do you put anything behind it to protect the wall from moisture from the plant? I know when you take it down to water it well and let it dry before putting it back up, but I’m concerned there will still be moisture in the wood…any tips about protecting the wall? Thanks!

Gorgeous! Nick, I purchased a small Japanese birds nest fern that was mounted on a board and I think I didn’t water it enough. If the leaves are still green but feel dry and, sadly, bordering on crunchy, is my plant dead or can I revive it? It’s in a hallway with far indirect light in NYC. Thanks for any info (if not you, any other gardeners reading this).

Perhaps it's "Latin à l'anglaise" 😉😄. But, fortunately, Nick Pileggi is one of those nice and thoughtful American and British KZreadrs who kindly put the botanical names of the plants on the screen or in the description box, so that a poor foreigner like myself can identify them 😊.
