DIY Pick and Place Picks Parts!

The DIY Pick and Place build is really coming together!
In this one I finish up the last little nugget of functionality needed to actually place parts on a circuit board! I haven't quite got OpenPNP running with it yet, but that'll be soon! I'm also working on finishing up the feeders, and getting them talking back to OpenPNP.

Tip for testing component placement - put double face tape on the PCB. It simulates the solder paste quite well without the mess.

Nice work. Glad to serve as some inspiration! My new rack and pinion head is ultra compact, I’m sure I could have donated one to your cause (although I know you, like me, prefer to do things yourself even if just for the challenge). I used to laser cut them in plastic, then water jet them out of aluminum but now I fully CNC machine them, including the racks with a gear cutter, very smooth motion. Keep up the good work!

I am loving the pace of your progress. In a bid to automate pnp of my part in bob carter brain boards for lebowski FOC motor controller some time back i printed a thing someone else had designed which had an offset gear to allow a normal stepper rotate a part with a syringe as the head. Really impressed with this and the diy feeders. Might see if i can turn my mpcnc or my geeetech prusa clone into an adhoc pnp with the detachable heads mod by yeggo. Keep it up
