DIY pick and place machine from 3D printer Part 5 - Improved design and placing tiny 0201 components
Ғылым және технология
Welcome to xpdiy.io, this is the channel about DIY projects, currently working on converting 3D printer to affortable desktop pick and place machine with simple steps.
In my audio processing board, I need to place tiny 0201 components, therefore I need high precision placement, in this video, I improved the desing and testing out the 0201 capacitor placement (I will make a video showing how I deisgn the component for converting the 3d printer to pnp).

Very nice! Thank you for sharing.

Did you find that using a stepper motor instead of a servo for the rotation works better with open pnp.

Hi, good question, openpnp come with limited angle mode, which fit for the servo case, so I think both is ok, the question is to drive the servo, usually the board come with stepper motor driver, in order to drive the servo, I think certain board or customization would be needed. As for servo, spec wise it is ok, torque is also good, usually they are less than 360 degree, so some gear need to be provided to enable 360 degree rotation.
It’s very economical to use those syringe tips for nozzles but how are you releasing the previous tip when changing to a new one?

We need to rotate the nozzle, so that the syringe tip will be released, just like we release it manually by hand, only the stepped motor do it for us. The syringe tip is quite reflective, so bottom vision usually face challenge to identify real size of component, and the attachment of component could be challenging as well for smaller component like 0201 or 0402.
For the vacuum pump, which one do you use? Thanks!

I use 12V mini vacuum air pump, you can use 24V as well. In openpnp you can set the output voltage to adapt to your pump as well. This is a link from eBay, you can find similar ones everywhere. www.ebay.de/itm/393846743343?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=707-127634-2357-0&ssspo=v5hXAwsjQyK&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=ijdbvl8crnw&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

On what controller you run this OpenPnP

I am using the mainboard from anycubic, they design it themselves in this case, I think any board that support gcode should work.
