I made the same thing long ago much more simply by attaching a low RPM synchronous (AC) motor with a rotating disc with an articulated arm attached to one end of the plastic container. The disc had a series of holes at various distances from its center to adjust the length of the lift by moving the arm.

I suggest adding a water-tight cover. To prevent spills... And, to just store the etching liquid in the same pan... Cheers.

it can be adjusted by speed, it's always recommended on to use on low speed

What make and model of laser machine, please?
