🔅If you have painted your countertops, how did you do it? Do you like it? How is is holding up?
🔅What do you think we should put in as a back splash? We are leaning heavily toward shiplap or galvanized metal so we do not need to worry about making the messy wall smooth. What do you think? Oh man I would LOVE to do a faux cement with rock .... how cool would that be?! 😃

    Thank you for the long-term review/update. I find these the most important reviews. It still looks good. My tip- I never use combo products, for example, primer/paint or stain/sealant, etc. I haven’t had good success with those products. To me it’s worth taking the time to do the steps separately. This sill looks good and hope it continues to hold.

    I finally did this on my rental property’s bathroom countertops! Thax for the great video and your inspiration! The only issue I had was with the roller. It didn’t work well for the bathroom counter tops. I kept seeing cat lick like strips. I had to go over it a couple of times with a Purdy 4 inch dove type roller and it completed the job beautifully. Again thank you!

    Thank you for this video and the previous one where you demonstrate applying the paint to the counters. I have laminate counters and there have been sstains on it too. Red wine, curry, coffee, beetroot. I have also dulled certain areas trying to get these stains off however what I've learnt over time is I clean them and soak the area for a while with soapy water and eventually they do go away. You've done a great job and I am looking forward to seeing more of your videos now that I have subscribed. 🤍

    I painted mine black about 10 years ago. It had MANY chipped places. ( I have 4 boys) I would say it was worth it I would not put Marble in the kitchen. It stains , wine will leave rings and a coke can will take the shine off. A friend of mine put it in her kitchen Granite is much more durable. Thank you for the videos 😊

    Hi Jesi, love that you're making do, and so understand the budget thing. Now, that is an epoxy. Believe it not, similar to auto paint. So, when "Mr. Clean" leaves things dull (I am amazed how such a simple soft sponge can do that, but it has happened to me too) you can likely buff those areas up a little with some simple polishes, like automotive polish.

  • @JesiDavisBuildingaSimplerLife

    Question: if auto polish will work to buff out and restore the dull areas, should automotive protectant like the nano tech sprays also work to protect the epoxy (after buffing or even when the paint is first applied and cured)? I love what she did and I am looking at doing my mom's like that too. Just want to find ways to protect it more but within reason

    Get a marble cutting board to roll out your bake goods or knead your bread dough. Pro bakers use marble surfaces. I use a marble cutting board I got for a deal at TJMaxx. Love your appraisal of you epoxy counter top. Tile stores will sell you a small piece of finished marble scrap from a big job. Put silicone feet in four corners and will la you have a marble surface for your baking goods then put it away when you are not using it.

    Always buy a little can or extra spray can of whatever you use in remodeling anything. That way, if you need a touch-up and that color isn't available any more, you're good to go. Keeping an eye on expiration dates of sprays, because they don't spray anymore after a few years.

    Great job under those humid conditions. Do you think it’s possible to end the job by sanding down the gloss to a satin finish? I love that it’s possible to paint over stains and bumps. Than it really doesn’t matter. Also countertops are going to look used by time and wear. It doesn’t matter that much to me.

    Hi. I'm thinking of using this product on my hideous ceramic tile countertops instead of their tub & tile 2 part paint. I'm wondering why you can't just touch up the chipped areas and the spots that lost the gloss using the same paint. Seems like if you can use multiple coats, then you should be able to touch up a small area and have it blend in with the rest. Have you tried that? Thanks!

    Please, please, please, look into using the Daich countertop refinishing kit. You can use it over this "can I do it" test and come out with some great results. It's also a paint on process but uses actual stone in the product. It doesn't cost a fortune, require artistic talent (which I have none), and it's resistant to heat and liquids. Oh, and unlike the appliance stuff you used, the Daich product is food safe and doesn't stink.

  • @xtremefight

    @xtremefight

    @@JesiDavisBuildingaSimplerLife You don't need to sand it off but you definitely need to sand to scuff it up so you can get a mechanical bond. We arrived at the Daich product after looking at all other options. Cheapest, you can paint but we have 2 wonderful autistic little girls who will ruin that within days. The most expensive DIY being stonecoat countertops and yes, it looks great but you really need to tear out and start from scratch which is way too much work for us and I have 0 artistic talent. Daich was in the middle and I spoke to people who've used it and called the company (badgered them) before purchasing. Check out their site for that and their other awesome products. You have enough subs so I bet if you did the countertops, they would probably send you some other products to try out and NO, I don't work for them, just a huge fan. Keep up the great work and videos!

    I redid my kitchen countertops last week using the Daich SpreadStone refinishing kit and love the result! I'm fairly certain based upon other KZread reviews that it's more durable and stain resistant vs. the Rust-Oleum epoxy product. A Daich kit costs around $120. Watch other KZread videos for more details about the Daich product and DIY tips.
