A bit of a long video but I hope it can help people looking to build their own sterilisers! I'll be selling the DIY kits in my store soon.
Check out the blogpost about this Steriliser on my website which goes into greater detail.

Couldn't have come at a better time! Thanks!
This is by FAR the best video on building one of these ACCURATELY!!! After searching Ebay and other sites for a stainless steel barrel, I was discouraged because of the sheer expense. 1 week later I found 1 for $100 , I then found 2 of hese same heating elements together for $14.... needles to say, your video is the missing piece! With any luck I'll piece together a float and all the fitting, nuts, bolts e.t.c. my only concern is making that piece / floor / that stands above the elements. Thank you tons brotha!!!!
So happy I found this. Its taught me so much about the process. I thought they had to run under pressure which put me off, but this is the video I needed! Keep up the good work my man.
Super descriptive, given me some confidence to actually have a crack haha, Great video 👌🏻
Very greatful for the video mate. About to build my own based on your instructions here and the blog. Hope you'll be back one day to create more content. I know how it is, but yeah. Thanks a lot man.
Man that's a beautiful piece of kit.
Hey, just wanted to say thank you for your video (and Meyers mushrooms video as well have to mention Eric Meyers too!) I made a sterilizer using your instructions as a loose guide! I learned many new skills building this, and I have it up and running now! Cheers many times!
Great video with a lot of good infromation. THX!
Dude, you made a great video. Thanks for sharing

Very clean, precise build, awesome!
you sir are a wizard
How many 1kg grain bags would it hold at one time. Great video explained perfectly 🙏
Very nice video! The heating element needs too reach at least 100 degrees celsius? Thx
Can l order all accessories conbind in one package to make a sterilizer for mushroom? Thanks for this great idea.
Cool video. Do you make these barrels with the complete kit to sell by any chance? I’m in the uk, but there’s no chance I’d be able to make this myself as I haven’t got anywhere to make it, or the tools. I’ve checked your website but no joy
Thank you so much
No idea what just happened, but man would this make pasteurizing substrate so much better.
WOW!!
How do you get over 120 degrees Celsius to completely sanitize the substrate?
Just confused because I was told pasteurization occurs between 140-170…. So this goes up to 210 degrees or so ? Basically sterilizing…. But you are also doing wood based substrate , any idea if manure based would work too?
Does this work for grain as well as substrate ?
👍👏👏
bro do you sell these? for those of us that don't have the time to make them
14:01 is this ball valve 1\2 "? and there is also 1/2 Inch x 3/4 Inch Male Thread between them? or this ball valve is 3\4 ?
Can u please send a link to the element used I am in the uk thanks
Can you give us an estimate for the cost of this project? Thank you
Do you have the kits for sale now?
Hello, thermo sensor is located right under the top cover, but our goal to reach high temperature inside of the substrate bag. Do you add some time your sterilization period because of that?

once your barrel is at temp (i set mine at 210 degrees f) run it (preferably) on a PID controller but run it for between 20-24 hours depending on a few variables; like how tight the barrel is packed with bags, and your heating element/power supply. hope that helped
Do you happen to know what heating element is suitable for the InkBird PID controllers?
@ArchersMushrooms
2 жыл бұрын
It's not the inkbird that takes the current, it's the SSR. If you just look at your relays rating, you can find a bigger or smaller one to suit your needs!
How much are you selling then for mate ??
What would you say was the ballpark total and did you shop around for cheaper materials or just use the first suitable parts you found? Great video btw

Cheers! I've built a few barrels like this so pretty familiar with all the bits so finding the cheapest parts was easy. The bulk of the cost is in the S/S barrel!
Hi there, how much is the price of your substrate sterilizer?
Are you able to sterilise grain spawn in this? Thanks
@ArchersMushrooms
2 жыл бұрын
You could but I wouldn't. It's much more reliable to just use a PC. Don't forget that a barrel load will only use about 8 - 10kg of spawn which is perfectly suited to a presto or AA
Wow, that's some stainless metal porn. Inspiring, beautiful work!
can this be used to sterilize supplemented substrate for reishi and lions mane ? how long do you run it ?

Have you found the answer to this out?
How many amps does the heating element make at 240v?
@ArchersMushrooms
2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the wattage! Divide the wattage by the voltage and you'll get the amps!
Bliss yewth bliss, boot of merc-la blyse method basically
What's the dimensions of the false bottoms stainless sheet ?? Hight and outside dimensions??
Do you sell it
Nice ! But insane bad not to see a big overpressure release valve and a pressure switch. But nice Work
@aphexpin
Жыл бұрын
It’s not pressurized, so there’s no need for an over pressure release valve etc.
@subtlesotl

@@aphexpinwell, it’s not a bad idea as an extra layer of safety. I’d some weird shit happens and for some reason the system is shut, wouldn’t be a bad idea to have that. Last line of defense
Good job, i like it 👏👏 but very expensive 😅
I'm building one of these out of a 55 gal plastic drum, I know it's not going to last forever since it's made out of plastic, but it's free. Anyway I was wondering how many holes I should drill on the top of my lid to allow steam to escape, and how big those holes should be. I don't have steam release valve on mine. Thx.
An Amazon sauna can work?
That is beautiful one .
