❣DIY Mushroom House Using Cardboard❣

Hello beautiful people! In this video I show you how I made a mushroom fairy house using cardboard from pizza boxes. I know the cardboard projects usually have a lot of edges and corners. My approach is a little different as I wanted to create a round object. This project is a little bigger than usual and it took me about two weeks to complete.
I start the project by tracing half of the mushroom contour on a piece of cardboard. This will serve me as a pattern and it will be multiplied 12 times. I also traced two circles, a big one for the base and a smaller one for the cap. I divided the circles with 12 lines. You can use only 8 or 10 slices, is up to you, but the more slices you have, the better. Then I glued the slices on the marked circles using hot glue. Now you should have the general shape of the mushroom. It's time to make the windows and place them on the mushroom shape. I used stripes of cardboard to make the walls and better define the mushroom shape. To achieve volume for the door, mushrooms or windows I simply added more layers of cardboard and folded it in the desired shape. The structure I had in the end was sturdy and compact. For the stones I used some paper from old paper bags. I made irregular shapes by squeezing the paper in my hand and gluing those to the base of the mushroom. I also made some vines and leaves and placed them here and there. Nothing we done so far needs to be perfect as we will cover everything in clay. If you're new here, the clay I use is "Das modelling material" because it has dimensional stability when it dries, which means it doesn't shrink like a regular clay and won't develop cracks. I used 3 kilograms of paper clay as this is a bigger project. The clay part should be done in two steps, one for just covering the surface and the other for details and textures. I made thin sheets of clay using a roller and covered the cardboard all around. When this layer is dry and hard it's time for details. I made wood textures, metal elements, mushroom dots, striations and rocks. For the finishing touch I made some moss and placed it here and there. The way I made it is by driving the paper clay trough a tea sieve. You have to let it dry a little before gluing it to your project. I used acrylics for painting. I started by adding a color base for each element, then adding transitions, lights and shadows. That's basically it. Have fun with this and I would like to see more of your creations! I must say young lady you were very talented and as I watch you I think about my daughter is passed away on this day in 1997 what I would do for one of these to go over my daughter Priscilla's urn and turn on the light no I'm not spelling things right I can't see very well sorry this is beautiful

you inspired me to start an art project with 13 first graders. you should have seen their faces when I showed a few videos of your creations. they were just watching in awe. we have the same clay as you do , but I have no expirience with this clay. so we're staring with something small. everyone is going to make their own tiny house out of toiletpaper rolls and cone shaped carboard roof. its already looking freaking amazing. I have watched this video 6 + times and I'm still completely impressed that anyone could come up with an method like this to create the finished product that you have made this was an inspired design and a method that only 1 out of 7 bullion could ever imagine. as long as its not directly from the gun, and has been in air for 1 sec or two, and you touch it, you kinda get used to it in the lenght and it not that bad lmao

Cardboard and hotglue. Such simple things almost anyone can get. I love this and i would love to make a little mushroom house myself.

Beautiful work! I thought the cardboard base was super cool and then you went ahead and sculpted masterful textures on top of that. Wow. I've never seen the technique of creating moss by putting clay through a sieve like that before. Well done.
You should sell a pattern for the basic mushroom structure x then leave the rest of the creation be inspired by each persons own ideas! Xx

Omg, okay, I have to say thank you because this is absolutely beautiful. I used to make miniatures out of cardboard and a few of them actually turned out pretty nice but because I thought that cardboard wasn't professional enough, I was never satisfied with my end result. I think I'm going to get back into it because it was genuinely one of the most fun, relaxing things I knew how to do and I kind of ruined it for myself. Thank you for giving me the inspiration to do something I love again

An amazing project, made out of old cardboard pizza boxes to start with. Who would have thought it? I have heard of Das modelling clay, I think we might have used it at school, Many years ago! I would love to be able to do something like this, but not sure if I'd be able to, as it still requires some skill... 🙂👍🍄

I had to just take a minute to recalibrate my brain when you busted out PERFECTLY FITTED STRUTS. I've had to make many cardboard models but I have never even seen my 3D designer friends make it look so effortless. Are you an engineer or an artist or something??

Hello, I follow your video for a few month now and I want to say thank you. I was always a smart child but I loved create things, painting,... And then, my parents tell me that I was the smart kind and my sister the creative kind. They offered me a lot of books and a lot of drawing stuff to my sister. So I assumed that it was not compatible, that people had to choose one skill to develop. And now, I have found your channel. When I watch for the first time, I remember how happy I was when I played with paper clay, the texture, the cold. I had forgot that. And you are showing that everybody can do it. Now, I realize that I was really craving for that in my life. I'm gonna buy paper clay (when shop will open) and do it. Thank you very much, really. (Sorry for bad english)
