DIY Milling Machine T Slot Covers

Ойын-сауық

I finally took the time to design and 3d print some t-slot covers for my milling machine. The programming thing is a head banger and using a 10 year old 3D printer didn't help much either. But the result are good.

Octane Workholding makes high temperature silicone t-slot covers that are really nice. They can be pushed in as far as needed to allow more coolant to flow to the coolant return area.

I have a company called Roger Tools Canada and I also provide those. They work great. Thanks for your comment. Gilles

I did the same, but the petg don't like hot chips. Planning to steal the baking sheet idea from Clough42 when I get some time. That should also protect them from accidental dings.

I didn’t think anyone would notice. But your keen sense of observation has unraveled my secret. Lol

Nice job. I made mine out of TPU, it's flexible and I can just cut them to length with a razor knife.

That's the material I would have liked Mick, but my old 3d printer can't do that. Looks like I need a new 3d printer lol. For now though, it will be better than without covers. Gilles

@@LetsRogerThat If you want to send me the stl file I'll print some in TPU for you. I only have blue and orange though.

@@MicksWorkshop thanks Mick. I’ll try these out and see what happens. But I’m certainly curious about TPU. How’s it been for you?

@@LetsRogerThat It works great. It's flexible and very resistant to solvents and heat.

@@MicksWorkshop I just pressed the order button on a Ender 3 S1 Pro. That’ll be a Huge upgrade from my 10-15 yrs old Solidoodle 3. I’ll add TPU to the grocery list 😊.

Would you be willing to share your STL file so others can print one at home? Thanks!
