DIY Miata Hardtop Window Installation

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, I go over how to install the OEM glass into an OEM Hardtop. I happened to buy them at the same time, just not installed together. This video is also a good instructional video for reinstalling the glass after painting or repairing the hardtop. Thank you for watching and please consider subscribing for more Miata content!

    Very good DIY video. One important part missed though, you should paint the glass with a window seal primer before putting your bonding sealant on and also prime the other surface (hard top). The primer etched so makes sure the sealant doesn’t fail.

    @@agodeko01 yeah, I dont claim to be a professional window installer, but I believe if I was, I would use some of the windo-weld in the crevice of the trim to hold it on. Since I would already heave a tube of that being used for the window. I believe some sort of adhesive is the way to go, for sure.

    Cool vid, thanks, Peace Parts. Is it absolutely necessary to replace with a new exterior trim mould? You showed it fitted easily, which should make it also easy to remove, and not damage, would you think? (There is a shortage in my country and Mazda are presently charging a fortune for it)

  • @PeaceParts

    @PeaceParts

    No its not absolutely necessary. I will say though, it did not hold up the first time I installed it in this video. I ended up going back with some general construction adhesive and gluing it on for good. There is a possibility your trim will come off just fine and you could reuse it.

    I believe the pros squirt some of the windoweld into the channel and stick it to the glass. I did not do that and the seal blew off. I eventually came back with a new seal and glued it in with some generic construction adhesive. Super solid now!
