    Once i used my 20mm dog hole top to rip and crosscut with a new Festool saw, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. Cutting every cabinet piece in half the time with .25mm measurement accuracy and absolutely square. And the edge finish is spectacular - a smooth veneer edge and the saw cut is smooth as silk. I still use my table saw but there’s no comparison! Just added a hinged rail (Not festool) and everything is even quicker!

    Nice build! Do you know if the 80/20 rails you used are similar enough to the rails on the MFT table to allow you to be able to attach and "flip" the track saw track on your table? It would be very nice to be able to basically build a larger, but full "Festool functional" MFT table... Thanks!

    How do you get rid of the dust that gets trapped under the top?

    Very nice design. But did you get any “bounce” in the MDF since it is suspended by the aluminum rails and only held down at the corners?

    I’m building one with the 80/20 brand aluminum extrusion. It’s the 1530 profile - meaning 1.5’ x 3’ so it looks exactly like yours only it’s 1.5 x 3” instead of 1” x 2” You said the Festool clamps don’t fit. My Festool clamps and Bessey clamps fit the 1.5” profile perfectly. Also,instead of getting. CNC top, I bought the Parf Guide system for marking and drilling the 20mm holes. The whole table is square wihin 1 mm.

    If you try to design a new drilling guide to print, try integrating a bushing for the bit to ride in. Maybe try to replicate the Parf guide system. I picked up some drill bushings from Lee Valley for a 3D printed portable drill guide I'm hoping to find the time to design and print one of these days.

    A few questions please. What is the base height of the cabinet. Then how much height is added by the MFT top. Lastly will the track saw be able to configure to the new MFT top. Thank you.

    The festool track saw attachment from the festool MFT does not fit on this table. However you can use the dog holes to make crosscuts and angle cuts with a track saw and some dogs.

    The base cabinet is about 32 inches I believe. The MFT top adds 2.75 inches.

    Have you ever heard of the UJK Parf guides. Not sure what the purpose is of the top if the 96 mm holes are not exactly square?

  • @thesmithshop2690

    @thesmithshop2690

    Yes I have heard of those. I mainly use the dog holes for clamping and holding work down. I don't need them to be square because I am not making cross cuts with it.

    Teton Woodshop respectfully, making a mistake in long term thinking/usage of the top. Though I think your 3D printing was pretty cool.

    hah, you weren't using the Domino for alignment. You were using it because it's cool and you wanted to use it, so you came up with a reasonable excuse.
