Hello for everyone who is skeptical about the strength of the this type of fence its stronger than you think. My personal fence at home is built similar and still standing strong after 7 years no issues. Would a pole with concrete feel stronger? Yes it would but that doesn't mean this type of fence wont work this fence is designed for people on a BUDGET. To build a fence with poles concreted the traditional way, you will spend at least 3 times as much money/time after labor and materials. I have built plenty of fences with and without concrete and they are all still standing any who doubts me is welcome to come see this exact fence in the video located in Casper WY which has brutal winters and high wind and see that it has absolutely no issues. That being said if you have no budget restrictions then a tradition fence with concrete might make more sense for you.

What a lot of people don't realize is that poles with concrete bases are more prone to shifting over time in colder climates. That is why so many installations are moving to crush gravel under the post and dirt to keep it secure. Less prone to moving. I don't see anything wrong with the structure of what you have done here. Maybe not pleasing to the eye for people who want a pure wood fence, but this will work.

Nice video! Definitely cap the metal posts if u live where it rains. Water goes inside post and eventually loosens dirt away at bottom causing a loose post and weakened structure. the metal post and the metal hardware cost little more than 4x4 treated lumber and cement, but no digging saves on labor. and they last longer. and you can pull it out and move it, if needed. also, when the 4x4 eventually rot away and need to be replaced, it is extremely difficult to get that cement block out of ground.

They make different size metal "plugs" that fit inside the post and then they are a full size larger than the pipe, similar to a flat top mushroom. This will prevent damage to the fence post when you are driving it into the ground. I have a 45 pound 2 cycle fence post driver and I always use the plug for each post. Then you do not have to go back and cut the damage off later. BTW great video. I understand you are showing us the economical way to do it. Thanks. Be safe.

Yesssss!! I want privacy around my fire pit so I can moonbath naked. I kept having visions of ideas and one was for steel posts, and 3 floating wood panels creating a triangle. I have to be able to do it all my myself because my partner works 50+ hours a week. You and your video have literally brought my vision to a real possibility. And like another commenter mentioned it can be removed if the next people hate it. Thank you so much!! I will post a video of my process and mention you. 🙏🏻❤

Anytime I've had old fencing that don't have the caps on I've had problems with wasps making nests in them. I would definitely cap them.

That looked real easy, didn’t know you could do it this way. Is it less expensive vs all wood due to the cement you need, time you spend, etc? Either way, good job! Edit: just read your comment on this. ✌🏽

I poured a little bit of dry crete mix in when i was done..tamped it down around the post and let mother nature harden it up. Solid as a rock.

This is exactly the solution I've been looking for from my backyard. however, I need to have a 6-ft high fence back there. I'm pretty sure they probably make poles high enough, don't they?
