I'm a noob to leather work and have been watching tons of videos. Yours is clear, concise and knowledgeable without much dead air. I first gained an interest to make an axe sheath, then remembered I've an old machette banging around in my truck. After watching this, the machette project will be first. Again, excellent vid and thanks.

Always wanted to get into leatherworking and this is the perfect chance. I'm trying to make a sheath for my Uncle Charlie's Machete while I'm restoring it. It was gifted to me after he passed. I think it'd make him proud to see me doing something I love and especially to see me restoring his machete. Thanks for the video. ❤️

An opened frozen pizza box works great for a large pattern. I regularly use them to keep my work area messes contained.

Perfect. I have the same Tramontina 12" Brazillian machete. Your sheath looks professional and is way better than those cheap nylon ones. Thanks.

Machete brother: I trained/oversaw crews for decades ins factory. My last ten years we had ZERO reportable injuries. Which bidets on absurd. I say that to say that you are/can be a world class trainer! May The God Bless you and your work! PS. Love your accent! Where??? Makes me think hybrid culture North East US mated to LA??? Just curious,

Can’t go wrong with Tramontina. I have a 14 inch bolo that i got for £15 and i have some slightly more expensive machetes and some much more expensive ranging from £45-£130 and i always see the best performance out of the Tramontina Bolo. If you need a machete then go for the Tram Bolo. Great video btw, helped a lot.

Its more about teaching someone to make the Sheath (for their own hunting knife or machete) . And have an option to carry mine when out camping or bushcrafting etc. (is was kinda my scrap leather and I was bored during the "lockdown" 😂)

Great video! How do you stitch the leather? I did some leather work as a kid but never stitched. I have the same machete, was supposed to come with a sheath but it didn't. Twice!

Thanks! If you search "saddle-stitching leather" , you should find some info on how to stitch leather. You'll want to use a thick thread. Polyester preferably.

😂 The tutorial is basically for any hunting knife or Machete...the concept of leathercrafting a Sheath... In case someone wanted to make one for their own personal knife/machete. But there are lots of expensive fixed blade hunting knives that could benefit from a leather sheath. The other purpose is to create a option carry a Machete/knife with you when out camping, gardening or bushcrafting... And honing your leathercrafting skills.
