I love everything you make using these rolled-up pages; the only change I made is to add a layer of paper towel and glue to cover the open ends of the tubes, once each part is put together. (a bit like papier maché, only I tear the paper towel following the edges of the tubes, so as not to alter the look/silhouette of the tubes). It makes painting the edges of each piece a lot easier, and it protects the paper from humidity, etc.

Not long, actually. Once the piece is put together, you place the paper towel along any edges where the tubes' openings are still exposed. First brush glue over the openings, then put the towel over the row of tubes, pressing down along the edges (it makes kind of a scalloped shape on the paper towel), then tearing down the excess paper towel when it's properly stuck in place, finish by brushing a bit more glue, lightly watered down, to harden the paper towel. When you paint and varnish the piece, it makes for a neat finish, and protects the paper, so it lasts longer. Yes, it is a bit more work, and yes, it's repetitive and some people may find it tedious--but we are talking about a project where you start by rolling dozens of print pages to make your building material, so I'd say a bit more work shouldn't be too onerous for anyone attempting their own.@@geenskeen

Those are the two questions I have also. It must be some really great glue, and I can’t find a stick that looks like that either. I thought maybe cutting the end off of a large knitting needle would be the closest thing I could find for the stick.

@@bluez1963 😁 🤭 and at the moment I use my metal straw. Since the straw is only about 8 inches long, I can only work with small-sized paper.
