The best way to clean your brush if you're on a budget is to mix shampoo, olive oil, and a tiny bit of anti bacterial hand soap in a bowl and use a rubber oven mitt. Dip your brush into the bowl and run it under the cool water and then swirl it over the oven mitt. And don't put too much olive oil like they did, it can harm the brush

I used the olive oil and my bristles where so hard and just horrible and they was like $50
I tried the olive oil and dish soap method, the exact brand and everything that was suggested by Michelle Phan and I must say... I HATE it! Indeed it gets the dirty stuff out but the oil would not come off! no matter how hard I tried to rinse it or wash it again with just the soap it was hard to get it out and wouldnt dry properly, gross. Olive oils or coconut oils are known to be a good makeup remover for your face, but please dont use it on your brush! What I DO suggest is use baby shampoo. It works beautifully and it leaves your brushes nice, clean, soft, and smelling good! Baby shampoo is very gentle and safe for your brush and in my opinion, works the best!

+nn104 I have used oil with my DIY cleanser, and it works pretty well for me. Leaves the brushes super soft. However, it really depends on how much oil you use, you only need a tiny bit.

Using the olive oil and soap thanks to Michelle Phan works for me. Maybe you used too much oil I can't imagine it not coming out but if you just use soap it strips away the brushe(s) life use. Using the oil conditions the brush. Again maybe you used too much or the oil you used was too thick

OMG I just tried the olive oil and shampoo cleaner and I think it is the BEST brush cleaner I ever used. I added makeup remover to it too. Tysm!!!
We all need a friend like this guy... so supportive 😆
I use the conditioner and coconut oil or olive oil treatments for all of all my beauty products and they have been working wonders for us.
Absolutely amazing, I tried olive oil and shampoo, it works a treat. No more expensive products that don't work.
Great tips! My favorite method is a mix of dawn antibacterial dishwashing liquid and a couple of drops of olive oil. Disinfects and keeps my brushes soft!
mixing a sulfate free shampoo and olive oil like she showed worked wonderfully for me
I always use olive oil and baby shampoo mixture! Works amazing!
One good, efficient way! Thanks for Your time as it helped me going forward 💋
love this trick.. shampoo and olive oil are great..
Thank you this helped a lot I'm 13 and starting to get into makeup and needed a great way to clean my brushes!
I used the shampoo and olive oil with a towel and a bowl of water. It really worked! I used the towel to scrub the brush(make sure it is old because a lot of old makeup will go on it) and I would get all the excess soap off with the water. I really recommend it. They also smell great.
This video was a lifesaver! THANK YOU!!!
Loving the tan & hairstyle Kirbie. Great for summer.

I clean my beauty blender with a mix of olive oil and dish soap. Looks like new after
I got some pretty awesome brushes off of wish and i want to keep them in the best condition possible. The dawn dish soap works
I use antibacterial dish soap, & olive oil then I condition them with deep conditioner! Works great!!
I use the bar soap method
I mix fairy (liquid soap) with oil. That really cleans and gets rid of bacteria as well as conditions the brushes!!
Ok first of all, too much olive oil, second of all that liquid soap will dry your brush, make sure to use only a little olive oil if you don't want to dry it. And third of all never use hot water because it will loosen up the glue holding your brisals.
Helped a lot omg thanks
please bring out an tutorial on kirbies hairstyle in that video! i love it
Thank you so much! I know this is an old video but I didn't want to splash out on brush cleaner and I hadn't cleaned my brushes in like a year... yikes!
Very helpful cause I was thinking I'd have to purchase some type of makeup brush cleaner.
thanks again!!
That was REALLY helpful Kirbie and Matthew!
Kirbie you're looking nice and tanned !! Lovely
I tried the olive oil and dish soap method and the olive oil just stuck to the brush and doesn't come off. Yes it could condition you brush but when your brush had oil in it it won't pick your makeup products well. I used to use baby shampoo and yes it's gentle enough but it doesn't clean well also you have to use a lot of it. So now I just use face wash that I don't username my face to wash brushes. We all like trying new things but sometimes they don't work out for our skins. Don't waste that face wash, shampoo or bar soap that you dislike, they wash away makeup on your brushes just fine. They are designed to wash away oil and dirt, that's exactly what's on your brushes!
aw yay!!! Lots of love to Mexico! x
What polish is on your Nail Kirbie? Please, it's Beautiful!
Fabulous how about the beauty blender, how can I clean this?
I used water and Dial Soap to clean mine and it worked really well :)
Make sure it dries so that water doesn't run down into the handle from the bristles. I like to lay mine on a partially rolled up towel, bristles down, handles on the rolled part.
Yes, agreed! Mine had an oily film on them too...I bet it was the olive oil. :(
I'm using soap bar for cleaning my brush
Haha he had me crying laughing when he said don’t use the sponge with the casserole on it 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤍🤍🤍
Did it bother anyone else when she didn't get all the shampoo out of the bowl? #ocdfreek

Interesting channel! Good luck in the works!
Great question. You can use olive oil or dishwashing detergent OR shampoo. We have a video on exactly how to clean it too on our channel, so search for it. :)
seems most common way to clean them!!
I use Johnson's Baby Shampoo. Dr. Bronner's left my my brushes feeling rough and gave the bristles an odd squeaky feel like there was some residue left behind.
I have Dove soap on hand but no one commented on how it works!!
These all work, but the shampoo one mixed with olive oil works MUCH better with beauty blender sponges. It took a rather dirty beauty blender and made it good as new. This however made my brushes really sticky so try with caution.
If you’re using the soap bar method make sure to use an unscented moisturizing one so you don’t end up having a brittle brush that gives you a skin reaction! My eyes are already sensitive to certain eyeshadow formulas but they got itchy after using the brushes I cleaned with one of my spare soap bars because there was a light scent to it and I risked it anyway.(scented beauty products are horrible for the face anyway)

Could you use a hairdryer on cool to dry ur brushes if you don’t feel like waiting overnight?
awesome
Can you use vegetable oil? And can you use conditioner?
can you use conditioner instead of olive oil or cocnut oil too
can we use coconut oil or mustard oil in the place of olive oil
I would like to ask if any brand of soap is fine used to clean my brushes?
I don't recommend using olive oil or dish washing liquid because it dries out your brush's and ruins them. I personally love johnsans baby shampoo! Hope it helped!
Hey Kirbie
Can you also use conditioner?
I loved the shampoo and olive oil, because after washing my brush wit the shampoo it smells soooooo good and also it cleans soooo well and it is antibacterial, and I love the oil becuz it make my brushes soooooo soft (like a comfy blanket)!!! I love and it's last me 7 months becuz I don't put make up on a lot sooooo yeh haha only (on like special events). But everyone should try it I love it. Equal part of shampoo and equal part oil, (MAKE SURE ITS EQUAL) u can put as much or less.

I noticed after using olive oil with soap that even after rinsing really well with water and after they dried the brushes were left with an oily film. Is there anything I can do to help with that?
just use antibacterial soap and a couple drop of extra virgin olive oil.
What kind of shampoo would be best?
What shampoo should I use
I wonder if you can use vegetable or canola oil instead of olive oil.
is it suppost 2 b equal parts of shampoo & oil
Can you use any oil? Like vegetable oil, canola oil 😊
Does anyone know what makeup brushes those are?? They are gorgeous!!

They look like Morphe
i saw a video where you could use coconut oil but instead of that could we use coco butter or no ?
wow
When you use this method, does it not make the brush smell funky? I just feel like using water and soap would not be enough
Can you use any oil?
can i use olive oil and honey? I know it sounds dumb but i made a hair mask a while back and have no use for it now lol.. will it damage my brushes?
How often do I wash them
Dawn dish soap and vinegar!
Does the olive oil leave a smell
Would any of these cleaners work for makeup sponges? Because -long story short- I bought new ones I haven't even used them and they got dirt because (I don't know how!!) they were in my jewelry box and I somehow forgot about them 😳. Any tips for cleaning them?
Never dip your brush in olive oil. Use only a little amount of olive oil.
Can u use coconut oil???
is it extra virgin olive oil or just olive oil
First . Cool video
He looks like a young Ryan Seacrest
I know this is cleaning the brushes but is this also disinfecting the brushes
The olive oil thing didn't work for me. It stayed on my brushes 'til I got tired of trying to get it off. I just stuck to baby shampoo. Worked better.
where else can we watch or read more of Kirbie Johnson ' s work ?

Do you prepare a clean bowl of water for EACH one of your brushes? No you don't.
Coconut oil
In the diy brush cleaner
I do not recomend using dawn because if you have multie colored brushes it will strip the color i recomend using baby shampoo or natuaul oils

Oh yah
I used the oil method and it ruined my brushes! :( I rinsed it off properly and spent so much time trying to make sure all the oil and soap came out but the oil wouldn't rinse out no matter how many times I tried. Even after 2 days my brushes still hadn't dried fully and we're greasy from the oil so I tried to rinse it using just soap and just water but it still wouldn't budge!

Also make sure you guys dry your brushes bristles down. Otherwise, the remaining water in your brush will run down into your barrel and loosen the bristles
